Jewish Family Services - Walk a Mile in My Shoes

Brief Description: This third annual event hosted by Jewish Family Services will provide an opportunity for participants to pause and consider some of the experiences, including the traumas, losses, fears, and hopes that refugee clients face every day. JFS is an Ann Arbor non-profit that provides for refugee resettlement needs, such as housing, food and nutrition, employment services, and transportation, especially for refugees from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Syria. Crisis in Cyprus: International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise
Date: September 15, 2:00 - 7:00 PM and September 16, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Brief Description: Weiser Diplomacy Center is partnering with the Department of Strategic Wargaming and the Center for Strategic Leadership at the U.S. Army War College to host an international strategic crisis negotiation. Through this simulation, students will represent Cyprus, Greece, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States; learn about the crisis in Cyprus; and be tasked with using diplomatic strategies to address a variety of urgent issues in this scenario. It's time to take your student project to the next level by partnering with the U-M Library!
The U-M Library is committed to engaging with the campus community to extend learning beyond the classroom. Apply today for our Student Mini Grants (up to $1,000), a program that supports innovative and collaborative projects that make a real-life impact. Selected projects must strengthen community partnerships, enhance global scholarship, and/or advocate for inclusion and diversity, as well as engage with library experts and library services or resources. Grant applications are due Sunday, October 1st by midnight. This initiative is sponsored by the U-M Library Student Engagement Program.
