"The Harlem Chamber of Commerce Black Health Matters Health Summit and Expo significantly impacts Black Diaspora Americans in Harlem by addressing health disparities and providing essential resources. With Dr. Maurice Franklin and Dr. Maurice Hinson, co-chairs of the One Hundred Black Men’s Health and Wellness Committee, who serve as Summit panelists and consultants at the Expo, the event fosters vital dialogue on health equity. It empowers the community to improve their well-being."

Congratulations to Dr. Geidily Beaton

Finding Strength In the Community: Black Men Redefining Mental Wellness - Hosted by Dr. Edgar Hobbs

Finding Strength In the Community: Black Men Redefining Mental Wellness - Guest Dr. Edgar Hobbs

We are pleased to announce that the 2024 Hope in Harlem Conference will occur on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at First Corinthian Baptist Church.

The conference theme is youth, sports, and mental health.  We are working with current and retired professional athletes to shine a light on the rising rates of trauma, depression, anxiety, and suicide among NYC youth and the power of promoting mental wellness through sports. We will provide hope and tangible resources for families.

We have strong support and representation from the NBA and NYC Department of Education, including the below-confirmed speakers (see fliers below and attached):

  • Allan Houston - NY Knicks Legend, 2-Time NBA All-Star, Founding Director of FISLL Project

  • David Banks - NYC Chancellor of Schools, Department of Education

  • Dr. Bill Parham, PhD - Director of the Mental Health and Wellness Program for the NBA Players Association

  • Derek Anderson - NCAA and NBA Champion and best-selling author of the book Stamina

The Conference will be followed by a Street Wellness Fair on 116th Street with sports exhibitions, face painting for children, mental health resources, and other social service agencies providing resources.

This event is geared toward the entire family!

Can you take just a couple of minutes and send a message to your legislators in support of prostate cancer research?
This week is critical to ensure that the Prostate Cancer Research Program has the funding it needs to develop new treatments and save thousands of lives; letting your legislators know how important this is may just move the needle in our favor!
Many thanks,
