Friends of Red River, Our forest trails are in jeopardy, and we need your help to keep them accessible! The Carson National Forest is accepting comments on their preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) written to determine the impact of the current trails and proposed trail closures on the environment and economy in Red River and the surrounding communities. The comment period ends tomorrow (7/29) so we must act fast! The Town of Red River has been working with the New Mexico OHV Alliance on the EA put out by the forest service. We recognize that asking you to read the complete EA and comment on the errors the NMOHVA has found would be very difficult, so we're asking that you direct your attention to what kind of an economic impact OHV & Jeep users have on Red River. Please take a look at this document for information on what to say and where to send. This document addresses the economic impact to Red River, but if there are specific trails that you would like to see maintained or re-opened, you'll need to mention those specifically. We're asking that everyone email or fax their letter by 4:30 pm MT on Friday, July 29th. If you email you must send your letter as an attachment (.doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf). Letters should be addressed to (but please don't mail them; just email or fax): Carson Forest Supervisor Attn: Travel Management Quest RD 208 Cruz Alta Road Taos, NM 87571 How to Comment: Email to:comments-southwestern-carson@fs.fed.us Please include your name and address The letter MUST BE AN ATTACHMENT in .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, or .pdf (it can't be in the body of the email) Subject line: Travel Management - Questa RD Fax to: Carson Forest Supervisor Attn: Travel Management Questa Ranger District Subject line: Travel Management - Questa RD (575) 586-2010 AND (575) 758-6213 Please email rlatham@redriver.org if you have any questions.
