OISE Orange Shirt Day: Honouring Residential School Survivors
Save the date for OISE and the University of Toronto's third annual Orange Shirt Day commemoration event to honour survivors of the residential school system on September 30 from 12pm - 2pm in OISE's Nexus Lounge .
Designed for K-12 teachers, and free for OISE students and TDSB employees, the event will focus on ideas and teaching strategies for environmental education in classrooms and communities, with an eye toward climate change action.

MAKING AN IMPACT

Each year, the Vari Scholarship provides financial support for exceptional UofT students who plan to pursue a career in primary or secondary teaching in Ontario. Vari Scholar Krystal Morgan sat down with Dr. Helen Vari to discuss the enormous impact the scholarship has had on her education and student experience at OISE.


The 2019 award winners Michael Salvatori , Sandra Hudson , Barbara Arrowsmith-Young, Edward Thompson, Liliana Compagnone , and Fabian Garcia were recognized for their outstanding contributions in the areas of teaching, advocacy, mentorship, service and leadership.


Dr. Eric Jackman received the award for his immense contributions in supporting child study and education through the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study Lab School. At the award luncheon, Dean Glen Jones , alumni, colleagues and friends celebrated Dr. Jackman, who is a generous donor and wonderful friend to OISE.


When Professor Booth passed away, OISE lost an exceptional teacher, professor, researcher and author, who changed the field of education around the world as well as the lives of countless students. To honour his legacy, OISE has created the Professor David Booth Memorial Bursary to support students in financial need.
