Friday, Nov. 15
Tot Shabbat (for all families with children ages 0-5) begins at 5:45 PM
Join the Ohr Kodesh clergy and staff for a family  Kabbalat Shabbat service followed by a community dinner co-sponsored by the ECC and Hazak for Veterans Day. After services are over, join us for a multi-generational Veterans Day Shabbat dinner and program including music and stories in the Kaye Social Hall. Carol Rest Mincberg will speak. Kiddush
The Special Simcha Kiddush will be sponsored by  Gerry and Jan Feldman in honor of their 35th anniversary.  

Jews for Exegesis  will meet during the Kiddush at a table in the corner of the Social Hall.  We'll study Rashbam's commentary on Parashat Vayyeira, about the angels' promise to Avraham and Sarah of the birth of a son.

Mentsch Club Hikes the  Billy  Goat Trail
Sunday, November 17, weather permitting. Meet at 9:00 am at the parking lot across from the Old Angler's Inn  ( https://goo.gl/maps/zMNk1RBdEjv88qAN6 ).  Parking will be limited, so  try to carpool.
The plan is to hike Billy Goat Trail Section A (https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/billy-goat-trail-a/) , which is a good strenuous hike. If you want to bring younger kids we can split up and some of us can do the easier Section B or Section C or just walk on the C&O Canal towpath.  The hike should go about 2-3 hours. Remember to bring water, snacks, good hiking boots, and to wear appropriate clothing. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Dave Goldberg, [email protected] .

K'tanim: The Ohr Kodesh Playgroup for babies and young toddlers

K'tanim is a free play group that meets once a month for parents and their babies and young toddlers, up to 2 years of age.  November's guest will be  Wilhelmina Gottschalk, Pedagogista (Curriculum Specialist)  in the Ohr Kodesh Early Childhood Center . A light lunch will be provided. Parashat Hashavua Class at OKC
Every other Friday through-June 26, 9:30-10:30 AM at Ohr Kodesh (Next Class Nov. 22)
It's not too late to join the Parashat Hashavua class.The class is open to all learning levels and is led by  Rabbi Avi Strausberg, the director of National Learning Initiatives at Hadar, and Rabbi Penina Podwol Alexander , assistant principal at B'nai Israel Congregation. We are saddened by two recent deaths:

Lenore Slatkin z'l, mother of Susan Finkelstein (Jay) on November 12. The funeral and burial were held in New Jersey.

The family is observing shiva at Susan and Jay's home, 7507 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase. There will be evening minyanim tonight through Monday evenings (except Friday) at 7:30 pm.

Bernard "Buddy" Toback, z'l, father of Suzanne Kiewe, father-in-law of Jerry Kiewe, yesterday afternoon, November 13.  

The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17 at Sol Levinson's in Baltimore.  A period of mourning will observed by Suzanne and other family members beginning on Sunday, following the burial, at the home of Jackie Polashuk, 12128 Faulkner Drive in Owings Mills, and 2:00-8:00 pm on Monday. 
 
May God comfort all who mourn for Lenore Slatkin and for Bernard "Buddy" Toback, and may their memories always be for a blessing.

Ohr Kodesh maintains a daily minyan in both the morning and evening.

Monday-Friday mornings: 6:45 am
Sunday-Thursday evenings: 8:00 pm
Next Friday evening: 4:30 pm 

Evening and morning minyanim are an integral feature of our community. Please make every effort to participate whenever possible, especially on your assigned dates.
