The 2024 Primary Election, held on June 18th, has continued to follow the trend of low voter turnout. Unfortunately, voting is limited in these critical primaries because only one party has candidates filed, or the races are not very competitive. Not many competitive races will be on the ballot in the November general election, making these primary races even more important.
For this reason, it was important for OKCMAR to engage in these races now. Despite the low voter turnout, the efforts of OKCMAR and the support of our members have led to significant success. Working with other local boards, OKCMAR entered a multi-jurisdiction agreement in Cleveland County with the Midwest City-Del City-Moore (MDMAR) and Norman Boards of REALTORS®.
The results were impressive - with nine of the 11 candidates winning outright and one in a run-off. This is a testament to the strength of our association and the impact of our collective support:
Cleveland County:
· Court Clerk- Marilyn Williams (Won)
· Sheriff- Chris Amazon (Won)
· County Commissioner District 2- Jacob McHughes (Won)
· County Clerk- Miranda Alamillo (Lost)
Canadian County:
· Court Clerk- Holly Eaton (won)
· Sheriff- Chris West (won)
· Commissioner District 2- Lacey Dawson (Run-off)
OKCMAR supported the following legislators who drew primary opponents in our jurisdiction:
· House District 43- Rep. Jay Steagall (won)
· House District 99- Rep. Ajay Pittman (won)
· House District 101- Rep. Robert Manger (won)
· Senate District 46- Mark Mann (won)
Our ability to endorse and invest in the best candidates directly results from the support of our members who invest in RPAC. Your contributions make a significant difference in shaping the future of our association and the real estate industry.
