Dear Families,
This week, we look ahead to the end of the month; to Catholic Schools’ Week, and all the many ways we celebrate who we are as a community, and a Catholic education in general. I invite you to look closely at the video shared above, and review the calendar of events in the sections below, as well as opportunities to sign up, be involved and participate! Tomorrow, we will be sending out the FCE, and will provide your families with invitations to share for Special Persons’ Day. Also included in the FCE will be information about the Annual Fund, and the ways that we help make sure that our school is set up to grow and thrive in all areas, through monetary support. Please be sure to return your FCE envelopes to the office next week.
For Catholic Schools’ Week, mark your calendar for the kickoff with Open House on Sunday, January 28th from 10am- 1pm. All classrooms will have wonderful things on display, and many middle school students will be present to share their work and lead tours on behalf of the entire middle school. Please be sure to stop by and see all the many things afoot! Join us for 11am Mass too, as we celebrate the Eucharist together; a key component of what makes us different than other private schools, our faith. Students who check in with their teachers at Open House, in uniform, will have free dress later during Catholic Schools’ Week!
In other important news, please note a major time shift for the Winter Concert, now set to begin at 5:30pm on Wednesday, January 31st. The day is the same, the time is earlier. Why? After many discussions and extensive feedback, it has been adjusted to accommodate our young families, align better with dinner for all students, and allow for students (and families and staff too) to be better rested and ready for the following day. If your child typically is in EDC or ELC aftercare until 6pm, please let us know, so that we can plan accordingly and make sure that your child is at the winter concert in time. Doors will open at 5pm. More details and information to come. CYO practices for that evening will be adjusted accordingly or canceled (and communicated by coaches/ CYO) to ensure attendance at the evening performance that Ms. Sager, Miss McKamey and all our performers have worked so hard on.
For further details and information about Catholic Schools Week (CSW), please check out the schedule, and pay attention to teacher newsletters in the weeks to come.
Lastly, and in separate news, if there is a need for helping hands to shovel snow, remove ice, etc. and you have interest in helping, please feel free to simply show up with a shovel, or tool, or just gloves and a positive attitude, on any snow day or late start. Dave, our Facilities Director, would love a helping hand. This includes over the weekend too-- while we may not be calling as a school to let you know the weather has changed, Mass still occurs, and I know any help would be appreciated. Volunteer hours will be doubled if you help out. Thank you in advance.
Wishing you all well. Stay warm! Recess tomorrow will be fully indoors due to the cold. Students should still dress accordingly, and in uniform, for the chilly temps!
