Thank you K & 8th grade classes for taking the lead this week in our All-School Mass
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

We are happy to return to "ordinary time" this post-Christmas Season! We celebrated the return to order at Mass this week, along with special mention of our upcoming MLK holiday. Also this week our salmon eggs are starting to hatch (Check out the delivery to OLG on the WSBlog)! So many extra-ordinary things happening!

Our Parent Org and Staff are preparing now for our biggest enrollment event of the year, Catholic Schools Week! We lead-off the week with OPEN HOUSE (Sun, Jan 29th), but also know that Thursday's Special Persons Day (Feb 2nd) is back in-person! Your child will be coming home with a paper copy of details (or download digital version). Teachers need to know your child's special person by Monday, Jan 23rd for our RSVP plans! These are both great fun for students and excellent expected family participation events. Speaking of volunteering, please contact the school office if you'd like to help spread some marketing yard signs around the community next week.

More January news below including Auction updates and “Partners in the Gospel” news which will have significant implications for parishes & schools in our near and far future (after each Mass the weekend of January 21st and 22nd).
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

IMPORTANT MEETING FOR ALL OLG School Families & Parishioners!
In April 2022 Archbishop Etienne wrote of the immediate and long-term challenges facing our parishes and the archdiocese, including the shortage of priests. He writes, “This sobering reality means we must engage the “great flexibility” envisioned by the Holy Father, and the life of our parishes must take on “different contours”.  This reality has led to a new strategic plan and direction called “Partners in the Gospel”. This will have significant implications for our own parish, so please join us after each Mass the weekend of January 21st and 22nd in the gym where an introductory video will be shared. We anticipate the presentation to be about 30 minutes. We strongly encourage all in our community to attend and learn more. Please share this invite for others to join.

The Future of Climate Change
The Holy Rosary/Our Lady of Guadalupe Care for Creation team invites you to view the film “2040,” in which Australian director Damon Gameau imagines a future for his 4-year-old daughter, Velvet, where problems from climate change have been solved.  The film will be shown via Zoom at 7 pm Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It runs about 90 minutes and will be followed by 30+ minutes of viewer discussion. Here is the ZOOM LINK. Those with questions or difficulty connecting on Zoom may contact Paul Sampson, 206-313-5847.

Lenten Small Group Bible Study
Believe it or not, Lent is a little over a month away. This holy season provides a wonderful opportunity to grow in our relationship with Jesus and with each other (especially coming out of the pandemic). You are invited to participate in a six-week, parish-wide series entitled, “Let’s Keep OLG Strong Through Scripture, Prayer and Community”. Small groups will gather in parishioners’ homes, at the parish, or by Zoom to pray and reflect on the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday’s Mass. If you are new to the program, please fill out the form in the back of church or on our parish website and return it to the office or place it in the collection basket. Groups will meet once a week at various times from Feb 19-Apr 5. For more information, Helen Oesterle, 206-935-0358 You can also find more information HERE

The 2023 Day of Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 25th!
In 2014, we began a new tradition...the OLG Day of Service! Each year, OLG parishioners and friends gather to serve at a variety of sites in our region.  This year, our 10th year, we are excited to announce that we will be joined by St. George, St. Edward, St. Peter, and St. Paul parishes to host a multi-parish Day of Service! There are many projects to choose from designed for all ages, abilities and schedules, including our drop-in campus projects and at-home projects.

We haven't finalized our Day of Service projects for this year yet. However, you can learn more about the projects that we did last year by checking out these descriptions. Watch for sign-ups in early February! If you’d like to help our planning team put this event on, join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, Jan 17th at 7 pm in the OLG Parish office (counts toward school volunteer hours).   To help plan the event, contact Karen.

Looking for Service Hours?
  • Camera Operators are needed for our daily and weekend Masses. Time commitment would be once a week and/or as a sub. Training provided…it is simpler than you think! Contact Helen for more information.
  • OLG Refugee Support Team could use a few more drivers to take our sponsored family to English lessons, visits to the doctor and other appointments. This is a wonderful way to help and get to know this lovely family. Drivers are needed mostly on weekdays during business hours. Interested or have some questions?
