Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

There are many big invites and details in this week's newsletter, including this weekend's Partners in the Gospel invitation, an Auction/ticket update, plus preparing for Special Person's Day, lots of CYO opportunities, and (NEW!) Chess and Art extracurriculars!

There is so much to catch-up on, but I can't fail to mention our OPEN HOUSE (Sun, Jan 29th) as you'll see yard signs popping up and more advertising and signage continue to unfurl in the coming days. This is is an amazing opportunity to show friends and neighbors the welcoming community we hold dear, the amazing work all our classes have done in academics and the arts, and especially the 7th and 8th grade-led tours and presentations. Our school is one where we welcome from all backgrounds, and form and grow in community together.
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

IMPORTANT MEETING FOR ALL OLG School Families & Parishioners!
In April 2022 Archbishop Etienne wrote of the immediate and long-term challenges facing our parishes and the archdiocese, including the shortage of priests. He writes, “This sobering reality means we must engage the “great flexibility” envisioned by the Holy Father, and the life of our parishes must take on “different contours”.  This reality has led to a new strategic plan and direction called “Partners in the Gospel”. This will have significant implications for our own parish & school, so please join us after each Mass the weekend of January 21st and 22nd in the gym where an introductory video will be shared. We anticipate the presentation to be about 30 minutes. We strongly encourage all in our community to attend and learn more.

This week is National News Literacy Week
The news is one of the ways we form perceptions of our neighbors here locally and in the world. It also affects our feelings of well-being and community. Knowing how to balance what we hear whether via traditional media like news programs and newspapers or new media such as Facebook or Twitter, can help us with a more positive outlook and our ability to love our neighbor as ourselves. Helping our children develop this news literacy begins even and an early age. Check out our Families Sharing Ideas Page for suggestions. https://bit.ly/OLGFamilies.
The 2023 Day of Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 25th!
OLG parishioners and friends gather to serve at a variety of sites in our region.  This year, our 10th year, we are excited to announce that we will be joined by St. George, St. Edward, St. Peter, and St. Paul parishes to host a multi-parish Day of Service! There are many projects to choose from designed for all ages, abilities and schedules, including our drop-in campus projects and at-home projects.  Watch for sign-ups in early February! To help plan the event, contact Karen.
