Good evening OLG,
Is it just me, or can short weeks (and short months), always seem like the longest? I know this is often the case for students and staff, especially coming off of a fun, but busy Catholic Schools’ Week. As we move into February, the days are getting longer, and our calendars are getting more full by the minute. Next week is not an exception to this. Due to the busy weeks' ahead, this newsletter from me will primarily be focusing on what's up. Look at the dates clearly. Mark your calendars.
However before we dive into next week, I want to take a second to congratulate our 6th Grade Boys Varsity Basketball team for making it to the Finals, this Saturday at 4pm at Blanchet! Let’s cheer them on as they look to take home first place in the league! Secondly, a shout out to our choir students in 4th, 5th and Middle School who were selected to sing the National Anthem tonight at the Catholic Schools Basketball Game! This is AWESOME! Lastly, a shout out to all of you as a community; families, students, staff and faculty. Thanks to your great efforts and word of mouth, and positive attitudes, our enrollment is continuing to climb. This is HUGE for us! I look forward to talking about this, and so many other positive things at State of the School, on Tuesday, February 13th at 6:30pm in the School Hall.
Speaking of the State of the School, this event is mandatory for all returning families. This evening is geared specially for adults, and you are encouraged to find childcare for the hour. If your children must come, please have them sit with you, with something quiet to do, while seated, during the meeting. Our agenda for the evening covers good news, tuition, enrollment, budget and announcements from our Parent Org, specifically about the awesome auction coming up (BUY YOUR TICKETS!!)
As you are aware, February also has multiple No School days. Tomorrow, we are off for Staff and Faculty Professional Development across the Archdiocese. EDC (not ELC) will be available for families who need it.
Next Thursday and Friday, we are closed for Optional Winter Conferences. EDC (not ELC) will be open those days as well. Teachers who requested conferences with you specifically will have indicated it with you via email and in the mid-trimester reports (K-5) that went home last Friday. If you would like to schedule a conference with your teacher, please see the Constant Contact with links for K-8, going home tomorrow. Unlike Fall Conferences, Winter conferences are optional for families, unless requested explicitly by the teachers.
The following week, we will be closed Monday and Tuesday for Presidents’ Day Holiday. No EDC, ELC or school will be offered on those two days.
With so many things afoot, and Lent also beginning with Ash Wednesday next week (full dress uniform for Mass at 9am) Valentine’s Day, please pay close attention to the School Calendar. Now is a great time to subscribe if you haven’t already.
NEXT WEEK: TUESDAY: SPIRIT DAY! Since we will be in FULL DRESS on Valentine’s Day, we will be celebrating Fat Tuesday (Tuesday, February 13th), with Valentine’s Day color and a Rockstar themed Dress to help pump up our excitement for the auction! Students are encouraged to actively participate and have fun with the dual themed dress up day! Not interested? Uniforms are great too! Parents, this is when any Valentine’s Day party might be occurring. Your homeroom teachers will communicate that with you. As always, remember to do Valentine’s for everyone, or no one. Specialized Valentine’s or ones that not everyone may receive, should be handed out off-campus, and not at school.
Looking forward to seeing you next week!
