Dear Families, 

Thank you to all who came out to celebrate our 8th graders in their performance of Frozen last week! The highlight for me is always at the end of the show, when they celebrate one another and are truly brimming and overflowing with pure joy. What an accomplishment for them, and a capstone moment in their lives. Thank you to the tremendous hard work from all involved, that went into making the show such a success! Thank you too for your support of the arts, through snack shack and in general. 

This week, we also celebrate accomplishments of our other students, in volleyball and in the free throw competition for the Knights of Columbus. Our 5th grade girls finished 1st in volleyball, our 6th grade girls are moving on to round 2 of the playoffs, and our 7th/ 8th grade girls are moving to the first round of playoffs too! See info above for locations and times on Saturday! We could not be more excited for you all! In basketball news, we recognize Eli in 7th grade for an amazing performance in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition! Here is a little bit from the parish news celebrating Eli! “Eli took 25 free throws in the regional event and made all 25 baskets! Ken DeVos, state chairman for youth sports, said that Eli is the first perfect score he has seen in the 25 years he has been involved with the free throw contest. Eli received a special perfect score medallion from Supreme which each state holds in reserve in case they have someone with a perfect score. Eli is now a NATIONAL CHAMPION. What an honor for Eli, OLG, CYO Basketball and the St Juan Diego Council”. Congrats, Eli, we are proud of you!

On Tuesday next week, our 2nd-8th graders will have an opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation and our 4th graders are excited to lead All School Mass on Thursday at 9am.

Lastly, there is an opportunity for some OLG School family and adult faith formation, Walking through Holy Week and the Triduum. This is a new venture, from the school, and hope you can join. It is designed for ALL OLG school families, Catholic or not, to learn about Holy Week and the Triduum, our most sacred and important week in our faith for all Christian people. If you are not Catholic, but would like to have a window into what your children are learning about at our Catholic school, about the Catholic faith, this is a great opportunity to learn a little bit and grow in knowledge, faith and understanding. I will be hosting this afternoon, along with Ms. Helen from the parish. We are excited to share our faith with you and hope you can join. If you’d like to RSVP you can do so here, or check out the FCE flyer for more details. It is on Monday, April 14th from 4pm- 5:30pm here at the school (but please RSVP so we can plan accordingly).

If you ordered a portrait from Yuen Lui in the fall, you will receive 1-8x10 class group print (via school delivery). If you did not order a portrait in the fall and would like to order a class print ($10), an order link will be available in the April 17th newsletter and will ship to your home.

Required Family Volunteer Hours

All school families are required to complete volunteer hours (more here). 2024-2025 worked volunteer hours accrue to 5/31/25, plus any volunteer hours for the 2025 Loop the 'Lupe (6/7/25).

You should be receiving an email report each month showing your family's volunteer hour balance. Log Volunteer Hours Here. Unmet hours will incur a $50 per hour fee.

Middle School Girls Go to Volleyball Playoffs!

Congratulations to our 4th-8th grade teams for a great season!

The 4th grade co-ed team had a fabulous first season.

The 5th grade girls team got 1st place in our division.

The 6th grade girls team made playoffs and won their 1st playoff game last night. 2nd playoff game is Sat, 9AM @St. Anthony.

The 7/8th grade girls team made playoffs! 1st game is Sat, 10:15AM @Seattle Prep.

School Fund Drive

Thank you to all who have taken the time to fill out our School Fund Drive pledge forms. We are about 20K from our school goal of $100,000! 

I know we can get to our goal if we have 100% participation from our school families. Our large donors and alumni have helped us get to $50,000 and it is up to our current families to carry us to the FINISH LINE! We can do it. Deadline for 100% participation is May 15, 2025.

Any class that has 100% participation will have an ice cream party! It has been 8 years since we have hit this goal, let's show our community, we can do it!!!!!

For all the victims of the California wildfires, and for the students, faculty, staff and alumni at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Pacific Palisades who lost their school and parish, and have had to find new places to learn and grow.

For all who have recently lost loved ones, and for those who continue to feel the loss of loved ones long-passed. May God grant peace and healing to those who remain, and eternal rest in Heaven for those who have been sent home to the Lord. May perpetual light shine upon them.

Partners in the Gospel Update

Thank you to the 26 candidates who sent applications in, expressing interest in becoming a member of the Parish Family Advisory Council (PFAC). We are truly blessed to have individuals who bring a commitment to the Catholic faith, a desire to help our Parish Family move forward and the willingness to share their gifts and talents.  We are in the process of forming a PFAC of 8-12 members to represent both communities. Initially, the Parish Family Leadership Team met to review all applications which was a challenging task. After careful prayer and reflection, we made the difficult decision to invite a smaller number of applicants to an evening of discernment in the coming week. This process has showcased the many talented, passionate and dedicated parishioners who we hope will play a key role in contributing to our Parish Community as we progress in our Partners in the Gospel journey.

Vacation Bible Camp Registration

VBC is a fun-filled, action week from 9:00-noon, June 23-27. Children Pre K (age 4) through 6th grade (for 2025-26 sy) are welcome! More details on our

Interested in Becoming Catholic?

New Inquiry Group is starting on May 7th for those Interested in learning more about the Catholic faith and/or becoming Catholic. You will have an opportunity to share your curiosity and ask questions in an informal setting. Let the conversation begin.” Each month, our Parish Family provides a monthly e-newsletter, "Catholic Update", which explores a key aspect of our Catholic faith or a current topic of importance to Catholics.
