Dear Families,

Hello, it's Mr. Santos! Seventh grade students partake in a curriculum called Missionary Discipleship Institute, which calls them to encounter neighbors on our margins, experience disturbance from unjust situations, and design a way to respond to these injustices. This year, after learning about all the Catholic Social Teachings, our class was most moved by the experience of immigrants, particularly refugees who face incredible struggle in having to flee their homes and families.

Over the last six weeks, the class has designed a community event for which we have applied and received a $1000 grant! The kids chose to use the money toward creating welcome kits for refugees who are entering long-term housing, and will be accepting donations at our Community Meal to continue supporting the needs of refugees in our West Seattle neighborhood. For more on our meal, please read this letter from the seventh grade's very own Connor McCarvel. Thank you!

School Fund Drive

School Fund Drive

100% participation from our school families

Thank you to all you amazing current families for contributing to the School Fund Drive.

It is through the generous donations from our current families, alumni, parishioners and community members that say "YES" to the fund, that help us bridge the gap between what you pay for tuition (regardless if you receive a financial scholarship or not).

Next week we will announce the class(s) that have earned an ice cream party. Please know we are still not at our goal, we have $12K more to raise. If you have not already donated please consider making a donation in any amount!

Thank you.

Prayers

Prayers continue for Fr. Phuong and Fr. Tim as our parish leaders, and for our shared parish family. And for Fr. Kevin and Fr. Jack.

For our community members whose family members who are fighting cancer and other ailments.

For all families, students, children and community members be joyful and full of hope!

For all the victims of the California wildfires, and for the students, faculty, staff and alumni at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Pacific Palisades who lost their school and parish, and have had to find new places to learn and grow.

For all who have recently lost loved ones, and for those who continue to feel the loss of loved ones long-passed. May God grant peace and healing to those who remain, and eternal rest in Heaven for those who have been sent home to the Lord. May perpetual light shine upon them.

Prayers for Pope Francis and his healing.

In gratitude for our OLG community and the love that you share.
