Principal's Letter

Families,

This is our 8th grader’s final week of school! For some, this is the culmination of more than twelve years at OLG, for some, the only community they’ve ever experienced, for others, a momentous conclusion of a wonderful middle school career. We hope you can join us next week, on Wednesday for the Baccalaureate Light of Leadership All School Mass at 9am, and Graduation at 3:30pm to celebrate them and their accomplishments. As a community we will also be honoring Miss McKamey at graduation, as she too graduates and goes forth, along with our graduates.

This week, we have gotten to celebrate the many cultures of our world, and within our OLG Community. Today for Heritage and Cultural Dress Day, it was a special day for the kids to share things that were special to their family, from clothing to food, traditions and beyond. We are tremendously fortunate to be such a diverse community, and I am grateful for the many gifts that are brought to the table by each child and family as individuals, so that we can learn from one another.

Tomorrow is the Talent Show, starting at 1pm. You are all invited to attend in the gym. Our Principal for the Day is Rory, and he has also declared it a Free Dress Day. Please keep free dress uniform in mind and wear tennis shoes (no Uggs, heals, flip flops, etc).

Lastly, this weekend is a big weekend of faith opportunities! Saturday is the 175th Anniversary of the Archdiocese, and it will be celebrated at St. James Cathedral at 11am Mass. Feel free to attend! Sunday, our 7th graders are working hard on putting on a Community Meal, focused on immigration and refugees! You may have seen the post about them on the West Seattle Blog, and Northwest Catholic also will be visiting! We hope you can attend, as it is sure to be fantastic. See more below.

Enjoy the remainder of your week.

With Gratitude,

Ms. Lauren Hobbs

School Fund Drive

School Fund Drive

100% participation from our school families

Thank you to all you amazing current families for contributing to the School Fund Drive.

It is through the generous donations from our current families, alumni, parishioners and community members that say "YES" to the fund, that help us bridge the gap between what you pay for tuition (regardless if you receive a financial scholarship or not).

Please know we are still not at our goal, we have $12K more to raise. If you have not already donated please consider making a donation in any amount!  Thank you.

Prayers

Prayers continue for Fr. Phuong and Fr. Tim as our parish leaders, and for our shared parish family. And for Fr. Kevin and Fr. Jack.

For our community members whose family members who are fighting cancer and other ailments.

For all families, students, children and community members be joyful and full of hope!

For all who have recently lost loved ones, and for those who continue to feel the loss of loved ones long-passed. May God grant peace and healing to those who remain, and eternal rest in Heaven for those who have been sent home to the Lord. May perpetual light shine upon them.

Prayers for Pope Leo XIV.

In gratitude for our OLG community and the love that you share.

Participate in the ACA

Thank you to the many of you who have already made your gift.

As a part of the in-parish tuition verification process requirements, families with in-parish school tuition gifts are required to participate in the ACA drive.

There are a variety of ways to give:

  • Make a gift online by visiting www.archseattle.org/GiveACA
  • Scan the QR code on the pew envelope, bulletin, or posters.
  • Mail in the pew/pledge envelope or drop it in the collection basket.

If you have not made your donation, please prayerfully consider your gift to the 2025 Annual Catholic Appeal. In addition to the ministries that support those in need, the Annual Catholic Appeal also directly supports the staff of West Seattle Catholic Community and Fr. Phuong and Fr. Tim.
