Dear OLG Families,
Spring MAPS testing is underway this month of May... keep an eye out for your 1st-8th grade students class email for particular dates when your child is testing! Studies show getting a good night sleep and a solid breakfast helps student success!
Tomorrow, Friday (5/5), is a Noon Dismissal & class picture day! As staff we are using the afternoon to prepare for our Academic Excellence consultant coming later in May, learning from each other in the workshops and professional developments attended earlier this year, and also studying the ever changing role of AI technology in schools and classrooms.
Saturday (5/6) come celebrate with our 2nd grade classmates who are having their first communion! Thank you 3rd grade families for your hosting of the reception afterwards. Blessings and prayers for all our sacramental preparation families!
Next Week we have many exciting events, including our Tuesday Parent Org meeting for all parents, Band Fest on Wenesday, our Thursday New Family Night & Matilda performance, and much more!
Read on for more info on logging all your volunteer hours before the May 31st deadline (billing for unmet commitments will be thru SchoolAdmin), as well as all the ways you can help spread the joy of OLG through development work, yearbooks, and more!!! Also I would be remiss this week to not offer congratulations to our highly successful 8th grade volleyball team as they were just one game short of the finals this year... a very high mark indeed! Way to go Bulldogs!!!

Girl Scout Troop 45305
We completed our Cadette level Breathe - It's Your Air journey this week. We learned about air quality. We potted plants for each classroom. These plants will help improve indoor air quality. There are lots of other benefits: improves efficiency and focus of students, are pretty, and help the Earth. We will stop by the classrooms to water the plants each week.

LET'S TRY TO BRING THESE STUDENTS IN! OLG TO THE RESCUE!
What if we could raise 15K to make OLG accessible for those 5 students?
We have raised $700 so far! Still ways to go! And remember, it does not have to always be you who donates, let's ask our friends and family...every one of us, let's get at least 2 people to donate! WIF WE ALL COME TOGETHER, WE CAN DO IT!
THIS IS OUR COMMUNITY, OUR SCHOOL FUND, OUR OLG!
Thank you for your generosity!
|
|
DID YOU RECEIVE OUR OLG ALUMNI REGISTRATION INVITE?
Have you registered already?
If not, don't leave it for later and do it NOW! :)
Please help us grow the network! Help us spread the word!

Vacation Bible Camp!
July 10-14!
For children entering preschool through grade 5
You’ll have a stellar time and give service as well!
Adults! We need your gifts of time and talent and willingness to have lots of fun, with our campers, sharing in the power of God’s love! We need all sorts of help: building the sets, creating materials, helping each day with campers, station leaders, registration help, kitchen help and more! Information and sign up after all Masses in the vestibule or at bit.ly/olgvbcvolunteer
Looking for other ways to support VBC?
Please help us with donations, items to be borrowed and scholarships for children who want to go to camp this summer! It truly takes an entire community to evangelize our faith to our children and children in our neighboring communities. In the vestibule we have tags with items we need donated or borrowed. You may also make a donation for a scholarship. Take the tag and return the item by the end of May to the parish office or to the box by the Family Center in the vestibule. Thank you!

Yes, You May Ride A Bike!
May is National Bike Month, a perfect time to consider leaving the car parked and pedaling to work, school, church, or wherever you are headed. If a whole month is too much of a good thing for you, how about taking part in Bike to Work Week May 15-21? When it comes to reducing your carbon footprint from fossil fuels, the Care for Creation team wants you to know that every little bit helps.
We need more Volunteers to Assist in the Liturgies
Are you interested in being a...
-
Altar server? Children 4th grade and older, including adults, are invited to participate in this important ministry. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together.
-
A Eucharistic Minister? Due to the pastoral needs of providing communion to all the faithful, the Church authorizes lay people to distribute communion at Mass and to persons who are sick and/or homebound. Persons must also be fully initiated into the Church, having celebrated baptism, confirmation and First Communion.
-
A reader? Looking for youth and adults who love Scripture and feel comfortable speaking in a public setting to sign up. It is a great way to share your gifts with the parish.
Training for these ministries will be provided based on your availability.
OLG Garden Work Party
Sunday, May 20, 9:00-11:30 AM.
Did you know that the garden beds next to the labyrinth raise fresh produce for the West Seattle Food Bank? With the arrival of warmer weather (Yeah!), volunteers are needed to weed, disperse compost, and plant seeds and vegetable starts. We also hope to spread mulch on the perennial garden next to St. Francis. Tools are available but you are encouraged to bring your own gloves.
