Dear OLG Families,
One of our favorite auction items each year is the "Principal for the Day" and this year Caleb C. (2nd) is our winner! He has a special Principal announcement for his day, this Friday, June 2nd! We will have special free dress: camouflage and/or tie dye! Straight out of the 60's!!! Of course, our normal "OLG Spirit Wear" is also a fabulous choice! Our Talent Show closes our day in the afternoon (1pm-2:30). Principal for the Day Caleb and I are excited for this Friday's fun! Want to share the news with others? Enrollment is up for next year, but we would love to have a few more seats filled; especially 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades!
As we near the end of our year, we also get great news from our recent graduates... Congratulations to these two OLG Alumi (c/o 2020)!
-
Charlotte Callanan, was selected as one of Kennedy Catholic's Drum Majors next year!!
-
Molly Gazewood received the Junior Service Award. This award honors students who consistently offer service from the heart to others at Holy Names Academy and in the community.
May 31st was the last day to enter volunteer hours for the current school year, but the "new year" has begun! This weekend and next has two huge events: Loop-the-Lupe' would love more help with setup or takedown (7-9am or 11:30 - 1pm) and Fr. Kevin's 25th Anniv. on June 11th also has multiple ways you can help! Desperate to avoid a bill for unmet hours this year? Contact the school office to postdate those hours and avoid a school-admin billing today! Read on for many other news of actions you can take to help grow our community and keep OLG Guadalupe Strong!

Join our OLG is Idle Free campaign!
During a recent afternoon pick-up, Girl Scouts from Troop 45305 noticed that all but two gas-powered cars were idling. We can improve! Join our OLG is Idle Free campaign! Idling for just 10 seconds releases more emissions than stopping and restarting an engine. Turn off your engine and to improve air quality for our environment and our health. Watch our OLG is Idle Free PSA!

NEXT OLG GARDEN WORK PARTY Saturday, June 10 9:00-11:30 AM. Did you know that the garden beds next to the labyrinth raise fresh produce for the West Seattle Food Bank? With the arrival of warmer weather (Yeah!), volunteers are needed to weed, disperse compost, and plant seeds and vegetable starts. We also hope to spread mulch on the perennial garden next to St. Francis. Tools are available but you are encouraged to bring your own gloves. Qualifies for volunteer hours!

And hopefully you saw the exciting news about participation in the October Synod in Rome. While lay people have participated in previous Synods, they have done so as auditors or non-voting members. This October, the Synod gatherings in Rome will be quite different as, for the first time, seventy lay people will be voting members, along with the Bishop delegates to the Synod. And, Pope Francis has instructed that at least half of those lay people be women. This is remarkable news!

THIS WEEK’S QUESTION: What will change at parishes when this is implemented?
