Dear Families,
As we are settling into routines, getting reacquainted with classmates, meeting and adjusting to new peers and teachers and new classroom norms and expectations, we can sometimes get fatigued by the adjustments and the leap from summer and everything feels very “go go go”. The value of taking a pause matters. Where do we each find time in our day to take a pause? For some, it’s lunchtime, or daily Mass, or the few minutes set aside for silent reading. It might be a few moments in a calm down corner or quiet space or a short jaunt to the water fountain alone. A pause that’s often needed is the moment or two when you pause from social piece or the academics and just take a break from the routine, and allow yourself to recenter, and then move forward with your day. Jesus
Himself did this often.
Earlier this week, my pause was helping with a science lab in sixth grade. It wasn’t quiet. It wasn’t alone, but it was not my routine. The day had been long and full and when my phone rang asking if I could come up, I said I’d be happy to. It’s worth it to pause from time to time; for all of us, adults and children alike. It helps us to recenter, to find grace, to find perspective, to remember what everything is all about. Our world is loud and busy all the time. It’s humming and brimming with noise. When it’s a lot, when your student is stressed about a test or forming friendships isn’t as easy as you thought it might be, make time for the pause.
In the sections below, you’ll see some information about upcoming events. WestFest is also this weekend, and as a new parish family, we joyfully support Holy Rosary’s fundraising events, just as they do ours. Next week, Wednesday is Picture Day (free dress), Friday is the Jog-A-Thon (dress in theme). On Oct 3rd, we have Jodee Blanco, award winning author, presenting to students, to staff, and to parents. Lastly, you’ll see some wonderfully exciting news that we have hired a new Development and Marketing Director, Natalie Trius! Natalie is a member of our community and alumni parent. We are thrilled to have her aboard and she will be starting in about a week. Welcome back home, Natalie! See her bio below.
