7th graders test hypothesis and evaluate a method of making the best bubble
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Let the wind blow... Despite a bit of smoke this week, the microclimate of HighPoint (i.e. our windy location) kept us mostly on regular schedule. We added filters and cranked up our classroom fans to keep breathing clean this week. This week we also began our MAPs testing (grades 1-8: get good nights' sleep, healthy breakfast, be on time,etc...). Teachers are letting you know particular test days in their classes.

A couple other key reminders of this weekend and more info farther down this newsletter:
  • The Ministry Fair this weekend (Sept 24-25) after each mass in the Walmesley Center. Stop by the gym to find out all the ways your family can foster stewardship in our community. We are looking for families to host the school's table after Saturday 5:30 pm mass and after Sunday 8:30 am mass - contact Janet McClelland to help.
  • Jog-A-Thon update below...Reaching our goal of $25,000 by next Friday's run (9/30) would be awesome, plus a few more volunteers!
  • Picture Day was today... more info below
  • Milk for lunches began this week... contact the school office if you didn't get your annual order in!
  • Our OLG CYO Golf Tournament for adults has a some registration spots left... signup below!

Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

New year, new roles....Breath of Life
A weekly introduction of OLG staff and the fresh life each is bringing this year!
As many of you know, Rita Gazewood has a new role this year as Learning Support Specialist. In line with accreditation goals and in light of our changing student body needs, Mrs. Gazewood will be working closely with teachers and students on supporting diverse learners and the layers of academic supports available here at OLG. From assessments to Sound Partners, helping teachers implement reading and math supports, and identifying and supporting Julie with Wednesday's After School Tutoring program, to our partnership with SPS in Service Plan implementations, Rita is busily jumping into this new role that helps support all our learners! For questions, contact Mrs. Gazewood or see more of our learning support resources here!
Band (Grades 5-8)
My sincere gratitude to the parents that were able to attend the instrument rental meeting. Thank you for your support, sacrifice, patience and understanding! It was wonderful to meet you and share in your child's excitement! Let the learning begin!
