CELEBRATING THE ADVENT SEASON

Advent Season begins next weekend, is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas. From the earliest days of the Church, people have been fascinated by Jesus’ promise to come back. Here are some ways to celebrate this season:

  • Our website has a variety of resources, including blessings for Advent wreaths, Christmas trees, and creches. In addition, there are several video reflections to enrich your prayer life.
  • Pick up one of the “Little Blue Advent Booklets” that provides daily reflections during the Advent and Christmas seasons based on the Scriptures. It is a great resource to enrich your prayer life during this holy season. If possible, a small donation of $3 to help offset the cost would be greatly appreciated. Available in the church vestibule.

PARTNERS IN THE GOSPEL UPDATE

Next week on the first Sunday of Advent, as Fr. Phuong announced, we will have a combined Parish Family bulletin that will make it possible for us to become more aware of the happenings that are taking place at OLG and HR.  In addition, we will begin praying a new Parish Family Prayer at all our Masses throughout the Advent & Christmas seasons.  We will continue to find ways where we can work together and, as always, we are interested in your feedback and any thoughts on initiatives that will energize these efforts. Please submit suggestions, comments, and questions by filling out a comment card in the back of church, ONLINE or speaking to one of our Parish Staff. You can stay up to date on what is happening by going to our parish website.

IMPORTANT NEWS

Help OLG participate in the West Seattle Community Garage Sale!

We plan to participate in the May 2025 sale by offering gently used CHILDREN’S GOODS. We are currently accepting donations of children’s clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, sporting equipment, etc… We are looking for items suitable for newborn-17 years old. Items can be brought to the Pastoral Center. We have a Dry Box on the back parking lot where we will store items.  And VOLUNTEERS are needed immediately to help with donations and planning. School families: come and get volunteer hours planning for this fun fundraiser for our community. With questions, please contact: Sarah Riggio at sarahr@olgseattle.org or Molly Berger at mollyb@olgseattle.org.

This month’s topic: “THE WISDOM OF POPE FRANCIS CALLING THE CHURCH TO HOLINESS”  Each month, our parish provides a monthly e-newsletter, "Catholic Update", which explores a key aspect of our Catholic faith or a current topic of importance to Catholics.
