SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM SVdP

Did you know that our parish's St. Vincent de Paul group provided support to 194 people last month in our West Seattle community? Here's just one example of the difference St. Vincent de Paul made for a neighbor last month. We received a call from a neighbor who was significantly behind on rent due to COVID as well as an injury from an accident. Although she had recently recovered enough to begin working again, she owed much more than SVdP could cover. Our Vincentian made a pledge to help out with part of her rent and submitted a direct referral to West Seattle Helpline to see if they would at least match SVdP’s pledge. WSH was able to cover the rest of what our neighbor owed!

Our neighbor contacted the Vincentian who helped them and shared, “I got a call from WSH and got overwhelmed with the amazing news they had for me! Thank you so much for reaching out to me and also forwarding my application over to WSH! This was definitely a blessing in disguise! Thank you so much!!!!!”

It takes a village! Thank you. Interested in volunteering or donating? Learn more about SVdP HERE
SUPPORT OUR WEST SEATTLE NEIGHBORS BY DONATING ITEMS TO THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL PANTRY

Thanks to your generosity, we have an abundance of food and are not in need of any canned goods or food items at this time. However, we have a significant need for household/hygiene items. These basic necessities are not covered by food stamps and are in high demand. If you're able to help, please drop off your donated household items at the parish office M-F 8:30-4:30pm. Call ahead to ensure staff are on site to accept the items at (206) 935-0358. Thank you!
2021 DAY OF SERVICE!

Thank you to our over 210 volunteers who helped to make the 2021 Day of Service’s 12 projects a success! In just a few hours, you made or assembled 150 meals for the Welcome Table, 18 travel systems (baby car seat and stroller) for WestSide Baby, 22 no-sew hats and 400 pb&j sandwiches for Union Gospel Mission, 4 snuffle mats for Seattle Humane Society, 110+ day-brightening cards for Kidz, 41 rosaries, 20+ prayer cards, and 70+ cards for OLG ministries, and 75+ hygiene kits for our neighbors on the streets. In addition, we helped 3 food banks provide for those in need and helped at 3 area parks and the OLG garden. Folks at home assembled nearly 100 Homebound Kits, Lunches of Love, Mary's Place baskets, and knitted hats for babies joining OLG families. A HUGE THANKS to our planning team: Karen Fitton, Molly Gorski, Kate McNulty, Colette Behrens, and Nicole Monroe and to all our project leads. It is amazing to see what we can do when we all work together!

DID YOU KNOW that our oceans will be flooded with an estimated 1.56 billion face masks in 2020! This will result in an additional 4,680 to 6,240 metric tons of marine plastic pollution (not to mention all those found on land!!) These masks will take as long as 450 years to break down, slowly turning into micro plastics while negatively impacting marine wildlife and ecosystems. Consider using cloth masks that can be washed and reused and encourage others to do the same.

BLESSINGS TO EACH OF YOU!
