HELP STOCK OUR ST. VINCENT DE PAUL PANTRY

When neighbors in need call, our wonderful Vincentian volunteers are there to respond with caring support and tangible assistance. They help with rent and utilities as well as bring bags of food to those experiencing hunger. Unfortunately, our pantry is very low on food and supplies, limiting their ability to help. Please consider donating non-perishable food, hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.), diapers, and cleaning supplies. We are now able to resume our collection of items at in-person Masses (look for the basket by the baptismal font) and continue to accept donations at the Pastoral Center. Thank you for your ongoing generosity!

SUMMER FILM FESTIVAL IS BACK!!!

Our first film on Tuesday, July 13th @ 6:30 pm in the Walmesley Center. It will be
A Hidden Life. It is a 2019 epic historical drama film that depicts the life of Franz Jägerstätter, an Austrian farmer and devout Catholic who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. The title was taken from George Eliot's book Middlemarch, which in turn derives it from a phrase found in the New Testament, the Epistle to the Colossians 3:3: "For you died, and [now] your life is hidden with Christ in God." Rated PG-13

JOIN THE LIFE, JUSTICE, AND PEACE COMMISSION

Did you know that OLG has a Life, Justice, and Peace Commission? In its 8th year, the LJP Commission aims to integrate Catholic social teaching into the life of the parish and seeks to offer parishioners a way to live out their call to love God and neighbor by providing opportunities for service, advocacy, and education. This year, we will focus on racial justice and the upcoming Seattle City Council elections in addition to other efforts. Our next meeting is Thursday, July 15 at 7pmIf you are interested in learning more and potentially joining us in this ministry, contact Jennifer or
call 206-935-0358 x.120.
HELP SUPPORT THE MINI YOUTH MIGRANT PROJECT

With some COVID restrictions still in place, 7 teens will be doing an abbreviated version of the Youth Migrant Project this summer. While much has changed about the trip this year, the need has not. We may not be able to do everything, but we can still collect items to help the migrant workers and families living in the Skagit Valley. We will be collecting non-perishable food items (canned goods, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, etc.), toiletries for arriving migrant families (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.), diaper wipes, and diapers size 5 and 6. You can leave your donation in the bin in the church or at the Pastoral Center through Thursday, July 22th. If you would like to make a monetary donation, we've made it easy by adding YMP to our online giving page. You can also donate at Mass (please make out checks to “OLG” with “YMP” in the memo). Thank you for your continued generosity!

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE is hosting another Blood Drive Pop-Up Donor Center in the gym on July 6th, 7th, 8th and Aug 30th & 31st. And this donation opportunity couldn’t come at a more opportune and needed time!

Hospitals are catching up on previously cancelled procedures (due to covid-19) so transfusion rates are up 10% over normal, both locally and nationally.

Meanwhile, blood collections are down in our region due to unprecedented heat in the PNW which has meant skipped appointments by donors and some blood donation site cancellations (where the A/C could not keep up with outside temps and the room became too warm)
These factors, that have caused a huge drop in community blood supplies has resulted in the need to ask hospitals to conserve blood to the point where doctors are needing to make decisions about who receives blood and who doesn’t.

The need for blood is urgent. Please consider signing up NOW!

When you donate during the month of July, you will automatically be entered to win a Peloton Bike! More info HERE!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP US WITH FUNERALS One of the Works of Mercy is burying the dead. At OLG, we take very seriously this holy task by supporting families in celebrating the lives of their loved ones. Volunteers are needed for the following:
  • Camera Operator (it is much easier than you think)
  • Minister to assist Fr. Kevin
  • Funeral reception volunteers
Contact Helen, if you are interested.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP ORGANIZE THE PEWS DURING THE SUMMER If you are interested in helping out once or twice a month, contact Helen

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO OPERATE CAMERA FOR DAILY MASSES  We will continue live-streaming our daily masses but need more volunteers to help operate the camera. It is easier than you think and you can “shadow” the operation as long as needed until you feel comfortable to go solo! Contact Helen

OLG PHOTO GALLERY Check out our OLG Pew Photo Gallery in the church vestibule. This way we can get reacquainted with each other as we are slowly returning to mass.  We don’t want to leave anyone out. If you haven’t done so already, please email a photo of your household (4-legged creatures are welcome) to Helen
