IMPORTANT DATES
2021 ACA KICK OFF WEEKEND!
APRIL 24TH/25TH

The Annual Catholic Appeal is a combined effort of 169 parishes to support a vibrant Catholic community and to carry out the mission of the Church. The ACA funds Catholic social ministries, programs for youth and young adults, Catholic schools, faith programs and administrative support for parishes such as liturgy guidance, human resources, and much more. Next week parishioners will receive a letter from the Archbishop asking for your participation. Look for future information regarding our parish's goal and rebate project.
ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF YOUNG CHILDREN SEEKING BAPTISM

Our parish will not only help prepare you for your child’s baptism but will also support you in the years to come. Our next Baptism Preparation Class is May 5th, 6:30 pm by Zoom. Contact Helen, to begin the process. We look forward to welcoming your new addition to our parish family!
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH AND/OR BECOMING CATHOLIC?

You are invited to participate in the RCIA
(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), a process of initiation into the Catholic community of faith. It encompasses the study of Scripture, Catholic teaching, and Christian values. The development and deepening of a life of prayer and action-all with the support and involvement of the parish community. Participants can go at their own pace. For more information, please contact Helen Oesterle at 206-935-0358, x 108 You can also find more information at our parish website
2021 DAY OF SERVICE: SPACE IS STILL AVAILABLE!

The 2021 Day of Service is coming up on Saturday, April 24th! If you haven’t gotten a chance to sign up yet, we do have some last-minute projects with openings. You can pick an at-home project to do on your own, drop in for projects on the OLG campus, or assist neighbors in need by dropping off a meal or doing their grocery shopping. We have projects for all ages, abilities, and schedules. Visit our website for descriptions and registration.
CARE FOR CREATION MINISTRY

Our parish, in partnership with Holy Rosary, has an active group committed to Pope Francis’ call to care for our “common home” through prayer, advocacy, and education for not only our parishes but for the wider community. The pandemic has had a significant negative impact on efforts to address climate change, and its implications are even more serious and life-threatening now. But we can make a difference and we invite you to join us in our efforts. The group meets on the second Monday of each month by Zoom at 6:30 pm. New members are always welcome. Currently we are making plans to celebrate Earth Day in April. Contact
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR EARTH DAY 2021?”

April 22nd marks the 51st Anniversary of Earth Day. Pope Francis asks us to hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. Start thinking of what you can do to mark the day. Pick up litter on your street, plant flowers popular with bees, pray for those working to improve our environment. You can show how you care by posting on social media (including the WS Blog!) or creating a poster for your window or yard or both! Your Care for Creation team is looking forward to seeing your creativity! If you are able, consider donating to one of the many organizations working on this issue. Some possibilities:

“NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS FACED CAN BE CHANGED, BUT NOTHING CAN BE CHANGED UNTIL IT IS FACED.” –James Baldwin

Our Lady of Guadalupe is committed to taking steps to become an anti-racist community. We are learning and growing in our work for racial justice and we invite you to join us. We value all the cultures, races, ethnicities, and perspectives that make up our local Body of Christ and we strive to stand with those who are suffering most acutely in these times. A special thank you to the graduates of our recent JustFaith “Faith and Racial Equity” series for your input on our new signs.
We currently have a group of 14 participants doing the second series, “Faith and Racial Healing We are grateful to the Life, Peace, and Justice Commission for making this possible. Finally, an update that our parish staff recently finished reading “White Fragility” by Robin DiAngelo and is now reading “Racial Justice and the Catholic Church” by Fr. Bryan Massingale along with leaders from OLG’s various commissions and councils. If you have ideas, questions, or a desire to get involved, please contact Jennifer
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES RICE BOWL LENTEN PROGRAM: HAPPY EASTER!

We prayed, fasted and gave alms—and now we rejoice because Christ is risen! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl challenges us as we begin the Easter season to share the joy of having a loving God that is alive and accompanies us always. Let’s do the same by being present to our global family by caring for their material and spiritual needs. Remember to turn in your Rice Bowl at Mass or the Pastoral Center. You can also donate online securely. Thank you for your generosity!
GOOD NEWS: MEALS FOR THE COMMUNITY

With COVID shutting down our monthly Community Meal, we have had to get creative about providing food for our neighbors during the pandemic. To continue with the mission of feeding those who are food insecure in our community, we have donated the money we would have spent on meals to a variety of causes including; The Food Bank at St. Mary’s, Catholic Community Services meals for unsheltered guests staying in motels, and St. Vincent de Paul’s “Lunches of Love” meals for those living in RV’s. Thank you for supporting this work!
OLG COMMUNITY
CONGRATULATIONS AND GOD’S BLESSINGS to Georgie Jean Miller who was recently baptized. We welcome her to our parish family. Please continue to keep Georgie and her parents in our prayers.

INTO THE BREACH VIDEO SERIES AND DISCUSSION GROUP We live in a time of crisis for religious faith and family life that must be met by men with a heartfelt embrace of masculine virtue. To outline the challenges we face and devise a plan of battle, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted has written the groundbreaking document, "Into the Breach". The Knights of Columbus have partnered with Bishop Olmsted in making a video series based on his document. For more information or to sign-up visit HERE
