MORE ABOUT OLG YOUTH and YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY

Hello Guadalupe! I am so excited to be expanding my hours at OLG to include ministry with high school youth and young adults! I know the parish has been wanting this ministry for a long time. I am both humbled and honored to play a role in helping it to grow. Thank you to all who contributed to the Annual Catholic Appeal to make this possible and to Fr. Kevin for his vision.

Some of you may know that I spent several years as a Youth and Young Adult minister at Holy Family in Kirkland. During my time there, I did junior high, high school and young adult ministry as well as Confirmation, RCIC, and mission trips. I absolutely loved working with youth and young adults and have been happy to retain some of that spirit in every parish I’ve served in since through the Youth Migrant Project (YMP).

My added time at OLG will give me 8 extra hours a week to focus on the youth and young adults of our parish. The position will be an extension of my current Outreach work and that will be the focus on what we do together (service, community, reflection, justice education, advocacy, etc.) I will also be a resource for other Catholic faith offerings in the region.

This summer, I have been busy with YMP with our teens as well as meeting with many ministers in the area to learn about current youth and young adult offerings. In the near future, I hope to find ways to reach out to the high schoolers, young adults, and parents/guardians to learn more about what you want to see in our parish. To that end, I especially encourage our young adults (19-39) to register with the parish so we have your current contact information and we can talk to you without your parents being the go-between! Also make sure to follow OLG's new young adult group on Facebook and Instagram so you’re getting our latest updates. If you have any questions or want to get involved as a participant or a volunteer, please let me know ([email protected]).
Millions of Christians around the world are celebrating the annual SEASON OF CREATION, which begins with the Pope Francis’ World Day of Prayer for Creation on Sept. 1 and concludes with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi on Oct. 4. The season is particularly meaningful as it falls in the fifth anniversary year for Pope Francis's landmark encyclical "Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home." NOVENA FOR THE SEASON OF CREATION The Care for Creation Ministry of Holy Rosary and Our Lady of Guadalupe parishes invites you to pray a Novena that focuses on prayer at nine special places in West Seattle that inspire thankfulness and action for all of God's creation.
Thank you so much to Our Lady of Guadalupe for partnering with Bloodworks Northwest and hosting a pop-up donor center. Our 4 week pop-up was a huge success! Potentially 1128 local patients can benefit because of all your time and work on this event! You have lifted the spirits of so many families in need. We greatly appreciate your promotional help, your logistical support and your donations! We couldn’t fulfill our mission without the help of people like you and we are so grateful for your collaboration. Your impact is huge as you can see in the numbers!
CONGRATULATIONS & GOD’S BLESSINGS
to those who celebrated their First Communion these past two weeks:  Oliver Campbell, George Fish, Lucas Lundquist, Lorenzo Moore, Alexander Prociv, Eliseo Saldaña-McGraw, and Evan Zetlmaier. Congratulations also to Jesse Peter Marre who was baptized. May they continue to grow in the love of Jesus and know the support and care of our parish community.
