BEFORE YOU GO
Autumn is a time of bounty and beauty.
The trees that release their leaves are a wonderful reminder of how to let go with grace and confidence. As the season sets in, consider areas of your life where you can let go of things. What are some ways you can make space for new opportunities in your life?

World Mission Sunday
The collection for World Mission Sunday will be taken up next week. Your generosity ensures the work and service of the Mission Church as it supports priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Please prayerfully consider your support. Please visit our parish website for online giving options to support this collection.

Called to Serve As Christ
Last weekend was the Giving Weekend. If you didn't have a chance to participate in the Called to Serve as Christ campaign we ask that you consider making a pledge to support this important campaign. Thank you to all those who have participated to date. Currently we have reached 12% of goal and 10% of families have participated. As a reminder the pledge is payable over three years and 15 percent of the money raised and paid to the archdiocese will be used to support the work at our parish. Every gift makes a difference! More information can be found HERE.

Drop In Services Success
Thanks to OLG’s Immigrant Ministry group, St. Vincent de Paul, Walgreens, OLG students, and all the others who helped make our Drop-In Services Day a big success. Over 50 people got their annual flu shot while others picked up free masks and care kits to hand out to those in need on the streets. One person updated their voter registration and many generous people helped us to collect over 525 items for our St. Vincent de Paul pantry. The food, hygiene supplies, and cleaning items you provided will help our neighborhoods make their money stretch during these especially challenging economic times. Thank you for your perpetual generosity, OLG! It was wonderful to see you all show up!

TWO BIG VOLUNTEER WORK PROJECTS AT OLG!
The remodeling of our Parish Peace Garden Shed has been completed, thanks to Mike Cervino and Clem Zipp. It is now large enough for tools to be stored and the roof no longer leaks. Just in time for our fall weather. Thank you Mike and Clem
We have another Eagle Scout Project in the works! JayJay Brock is creating a walkway from our lower parking area (next to Peace Garden) to the lower level of our Pastoral Center. This will make it much easier for people to access that space for meetings. It is a complicated project because it involves working around a drainage system and lots of blackberries! Thank you JayJay and those helping you with this project!

UPDATE ON FR. KEVIN Fr. Kevin has been home resting based on doctor's orders. While he is getting stronger day by day his doctors continue to monitor him as his heart rhythm has not yet returned to normal. His cardiologist has scheduled him for a procedure to shock his heart on 10/29 to see if that helps resolve the issue. We are working on priest coverage during his absence through 11/8. Hi misses all of you and appreciates all the prayers.
REMEMBERING YOUR LOVED ONES DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER The Catholic Church has a long tradition of remembering those who have died during the month of November, beginning with the Feast of All Souls. Besides those we remember on our All Souls Banners, people have traditionally submitted names of family and friends who have also passed to also be included. Please call or email the Parish Office, [email protected]. You may also make a donation in memory of your loved ones by going to our “Donation” button on our website or by mail.
AS WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR TERESA GODFREY AND HER FAMILY many in the school and parish have asked how they can help. While the family is going to wait on a celebration of life here are two ways people can offer support.
CATHOLIC LIFE, EUCHARISTIC LIFE: Living the Eucharist in the Year of the Eucharist Saturday, November 7, 9:30-11:00 am (by Zoom) The Eucharist is the center of our Catholic faith and yet, especially during COVID-19, it can be difficult for us to keep it at the center of our lives. This year Archbishop Etienne has declared it “The Year of the Eucharist” with the goals of deepening our awareness of Christ’s presence, creating a greater sense of unity around the table of the Lord, and, most importantly, living more fully the Eucharist in our daily lives. Gather with others as to grow in our understanding of Eucharist and how we can open up to the many gifts that it offers us, both individually and as a community. The Zoom link is also available on our parish website and in our newsletter.
REGISTRATION IS ON-GOING FOR ALL OUR FAMILY FAITH FORMATION CLASSES You can register and pay on-line for your convenience. Virtual classes will start October 11th and family packets will be available for pick up with curriculum the week of October 5th through the 9th. Parents and Guardians, please note, that we have added another option for families to participate in our programs: 3rd-5th and 6th and 7th. If you are wanting to limit your child’s screen time, you can have the option of registering for these two classes and receive the curriculum and work at home with no virtual class time with the catechist. Please note, that this only applies to these two classes, as Sac Prep One and Two will need to participate in all virtual classes with their catechist. Call Marion Kari if you have questions, 206 935-0358 or email: [email protected].
