"In this moment of unspeakable tragedy, there also lies incredible opportunities to collectively unite, mobilize, advocate, speak out, and educate others and ourselves. However, for many of us, we do not know how to start the conversation or what actions to take.
As Catholics, we simply cannot stand by and not respond to incidents of racism and inhuman treatment of our black and brown brothers and sisters. Let us harness this unique moment to usher God’s Kingdom of Heaven into being, especially for people of color who are hurting so deeply and in need of healing."

OLG STRONG!!
86% OF PARISH SHARE GOAL MET
WE ARE ALMOST THERE......
HELP US CROSS THE FINISH LINE BY JUNE 19th!
|
|
During these challenging and uncertain times we want to thank the 220 individuals/families that have participated in the 2020 Annual Catholic Appeal. That is 31% of our parish participating. We would love to have
at least
50% participation by the end of next week. Remember, once we meet our parish share all additional donations received will come back to the parish to support the expansion of our youth and young adult ministry.

DEALING WITH STRESS AND ANXIETY
SATURDAY, JUNE 13
@ 10:00 am
Join parishioner and Mental Health Counselor Knox Burnett LMHC on
Saturday, June 13 at 10am
for an experiential Facebook Live workshop on how to work with anxiety and stress during this difficult season. Each one of us is experiencing this time in unique ways and many of us are struggling with new levels of anxiety, fear, and stress. The workshop will explore what anxiety is and how we can care for our bodies and minds in constructive and compassionate ways. We will also spend some time reflecting on God's presence in the midst of the unknown as a "calm in the midst of the storm". All are invited, regardless of religious affiliation."

VACATION BIBLE CAMP 2020 UPDATES
We realize that this is an unusual time where children have spent hours in front of a screen for school. Our hope is that after a month off from school, this year’s program can provide enrichment and fun not only for your child but for the entire family (while preserving the favorite parts of VBC!) There are now 3 different ways your child can participate, based on family schedule and screen time. In addition, other outdoor activities will be suggested for your entire family to expand VBC themes throughout the summer.

GOOD NEWS
Last month, OLG helped organize and run a major food distribution event with Holy Family Parish, Catholic Community Services (CCS), and the Westside Interfaith Network (WIN). Pacific Coast Fruit,
one of the recipients of the USDA’s federal contracts to ease farm surpluses and
hunger,
arrived with two refrigerated semitrucks filled with 50,000lbs of protein, dairy, and produce for our local community. Volunteers and staff from OLG, Holy Family, St. George, St. James, WIN, CCS, and more helped hand out all that food to 750 families in just under an hour-and-a-half! Local non-profits, including Santa Teresita, St. Vincent de Paul (St. Bernadette and St. Francis), Neighborhood House, and Transform Burien were able to pick up in bulk for people who could not come themselves. Unfortunately, there were many people still in line when the food ran out. The good news is, we’ll be doing it again this Saturday June 14th) at Holy Family at 10am and at St. Edward’s on Saturday, June 27
