Weekly OLL News: February 12, 2020
Dear OLL Families,

Bravo to our Parents Club (particularly Lisa Gilbert) and Mrs. Christensen and their whole team for creating such a memorable Father/Daughter Dance last weekend. Many memories were made that will last a lifetime! And best wishes to all our Laker families for a peaceful and fun-filled Winter Break. We're hoping the germs going around will run their course before we all return.

Once we get back, please plan to join us for our State-of-the-School on Thursday, Feb. 20. One new aspect I wanted to point out is that we've invited all newly accepted families (such as those entering preschool or pre-K, etc.) so we're excited for them to meet you all and welcome them to the OLL family. Built into the State-of-the-School agenda is time to mingle between table stations and connect with old friends and new. During the event, a ll K-8 grade students are invited to join Mrs. Christensen and 8th grade leaders to watch Movie Shorts in the Multipurpose Room - no RSVP required.

There will be one new teacher face when we return; with Mrs. Amy Beck beginning her maternity leave, Mrs. Achil Obenza will be joining OLL and teaching music for the remainder of the year. Mrs. Obenza is a talented musician and teacher with experience performing and teaching students from preschool to adult. We are thrilled to welcome Achil and are sending our prayers for health and happiness to Mrs. Beck and Baby Beck!

Finally, I wanted to look ahead to March 20, when we will celebrate Grandparents/Special Friends Day : All grandparents and special friends are invited to join us for a special day to honor them and their role in our students' lives. We hope for a full house that day!

Have a safe and enjoyable time away,

OneOLL Catholic Social Teaching Stories Project
Encourages Drawings, Paintings and Poems in addition to Written Personal Stories!
We are inviting all parishioners and students at and not at OLL School to write 500 word personal stories. We’re also inviting all the young and older in our parish and in our parish School to create a drawing, painting or poem based on one element of our Statement of Commitment and Action to Living Catholic Social Teaching. These will be added to our Jubilee Hall binder. Find the text of the Statement on cards on the tables in church and from Principal Daniel Mullen at the school. Submit your art, poem or 500 word personal story on one of the eleven elements of the Statement to  parishadmin@ollseattle.org  and we will add it to the binder.

Once monthly at all the Masses a writer, poet or artist will be featured. Make sure to indicate which element you are focusing on. Give at least your first name at the bottom and on a separate sheet give your full name and contact number and email.

Our goal is 100 OLL submissions. We invite you to read those recently submitted, including stories from eleven OLL School seventh graders and a few more from parishioners.
