Weekly OLL News: February 5, 2020
Dear OLL Families,

With the spirit of our core value of “Community” in mind, we wanted to tweak our usual State-of-the-School to really emphasize and take advantage of our whole community coming together. Those times are so rare as we move through the year. Thanks to our wonderful School Commission members, we are planning our upcoming State-of-the-School on February 20th to be a celebration of what we have accomplished this year, a look forward at some big goals we’re going for in the months and years ahead, and an opportunity to build up our sense of school community.

We’ll have some small bites and adult beverages available, some fun “door prizes,” as well as a chance for all who attend to pick up a “Free Dress” coupon for your child/ren. And what about your children? Mrs. Christensen and our 8th grade leadership team are welcoming all K-8 students to watch some “Movie Shorts” in the MPR during the event.

We’ll keep the format of our presentation brief, so that everyone has a chance to connect with each other and learn more about how we are reaching our goals we set out to achieve last year in areas including Spanish, educational technology, and our Student Success Program. Representatives of our One OLL initiative, Facilities/Finance Committees, Parents Club, School Commission, and more will also be there to answer questions and hear your ideas.

So, please come join us, and pick up your registration packet before you leave: February 20, 7:00pm in Jubilee Hall. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

OneOLL Catholic Social Teaching Stories Project Encourages Drawings, Paintings and Poems in addition to Written Personal Stories!
We are inviting all parishioners and students at and not at OLL School to write 500 word personal stories. We’re also inviting all the young and older in our parish and in our parish School to create a drawing, painting or poem based on one element of our Statement of Commitment and Action to Living Catholic Social Teaching. These will be added to our Jubilee Hall binder. Find the text of the Statement on cards on the tables in church and from Principal Daniel Mullen at the school. Submit your art, poem or 500 word personal story on one of the eleven elements of the Statement to  parishadmin@ollseattle.org  and we will add it to the binder.

Once monthly at all the Masses a writer, poet or artist will be featured. Make sure to indicate which element you are focusing on. Give at least your first name at the bottom and on a separate sheet give your full name and contact number and email.

Our goal is 100 OLL submissions. We invite you to read those recently submitted, including stories from eleven OLL School seventh graders and a few more from parishioners.
