ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING TOMORROW!
|
|
The Annual Business & Town Hall Meeting is a great time to learn more about how OLLI operates. In addition to a budget review, the Town Hall-style forum will include discussion about the future direction of OLLI. Knowing where we're going, and gaining member input along the way, helps ensure OLLI can deliver the type of stimulating programming that keeps you coming back. We look forward to sharing our plans with you, and we're especially eager to hear your thoughts and wishes!

We are just 6 members shy of our participation goal in this year's matching campaign. If you haven't donated yet this year, please consider donating $1 or more to push us over the top. A group of anonymous donors has pledged $10,000 on the condition that 20% of our total membership participates in this year's fundraising effort.
How about...
- $1 per OLLI class you took this year? or
- $22 to represent this year at OLLI? or
- $5 per month as a recurring gift? or
- $100 because you like round numbers?

We love sharing local events and information with all of you, and we're always looking for more ways to learn about things going on around Chico. We want to know: Where do you get information about what's going on in the Chico area?

After two years, we're finally traveling again! We hope you'll join us for a short bus ride to Sacramento on Sunday, September 25 to see the Tony-nominated musical Come From Away. This New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them.
Tickets for members or non-members are $225, including bus transportation.

We are deeply saddened to share the news that George "David" Swanson, a longtime member and OLLI instructor, passed on April 10. He was known for his great intelligence, natural curiosity, and love for the outdoors. David earned his bachelor's degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1965, a master's degree from Stanford University in 1967, and a PhD in engineering from Stanford in 1972. He was hired to teach in the Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology at Chico State in 1989. Notably, his expertise in technology led to his involvement on several significant projects, including redesign of infrared CO2 sensors at the UCLA Medical School and the creation of a mass spectrometer used on the Mir Space Station and later shuttle flights. He is survived by his wife Kristin, sons Eric and Christopher, numerous grandchildren, and sisters Ann Louise Johnson and Carolyn Wunner. David and Kristin were deeply involved in restoring the Paradise community since the 2018 Camp Fire.
