OLLI at DU Fall Term is Here!
Fall Term 2022
September 12 through November 10th
Registration begins on Wednesday,
July 27th
Greetings from the OLLI at DU staff! We are thrilled to present the Fall 2022 Catalog of over 175 lifelong learning opportunities! The catalog is ready NOW for you to pour through, mark those courses and webinars which sound interesting and then, the hardest part, deciding which of those to register for when registration opens on WEDNESDAY, JULY 27TH

The Curriculum Committees and staff at each of our seven locations around Metro Denver has worked diligently to present a robust set of 70 in-person courses, 98 online courses and 8 stand-alone webinars. A big thank you to everyone who helped put together this catalog. You will see the seven OLLI at DU Sites messages interspersed throughout the catalog and a list of Curriculum Committee members at the end.

History. Science. Literature. Performing Arts. Public Affairs. Philosophy. Hands-on Art, Journaling, Mindfulness! Something for everyone!

For over 25 years the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Denver (OLLI at DU) has offered fun and fascinating adult education courses specially designed for people 50 and older.

OLLI at DU is a warm and inviting place to learn at your own pace and where no one fails! We are here to help you connect with others who have similar interests and who want to stay active and engaged.

There are countless opportunities to volunteer- from facilitating a course, to serving as a class assistant, to joining any of three OLLI-wide committees (Marketing, Diversity, Membership), to planning social events at one of our seven sites around Metro Denver!

Our post-pandemic revival of in-person courses at our seven sites complements more than one hundred live Zoom offerings.

We offer three different membership types to meet your individual needs (see below). Take some time and review the catalog; find a course that will expand your horizons or fits with a lifelong interest.

Share the catalog below with your neighbors, friends and family. And join us at one of the Open Houses which will be held at our OLLI at DU locations during the next month (see below). Bring a friend to an Open House and enter a raffle to receive a free Introductory Membership to share with someone!

REMEMBER: REGISTRATION DOES NOT BEGIN UNTIL WEDNESDAY, JULY 27TH

OLLI DU REGISTRATION PROCESS EXPLAINED

OLLI DU has an “open request” registration period which this term will run from Wednesday, July 27 through Sunday, August 7 (11:59 pm). During this time, members are welcome to register for all courses. On Monday, 8/8 OLLI will close courses which have met maximum enrollment.

Courses which have exceeded their maximum enrollment during the “open request” period will be filled via a lottery. Members will be notified as soon as possible after this lottery if they have not been granted admission in order to allow them to choose another course. All attempts are made so that a member is not dropped from more than one course.

After Sunday, 8/7/22, registration will remain open only for those courses and webinars which have not met maximum enrollment. Registration remains open until the Friday before a course begins. Registration for webinars is unlimited and will remain open until the Friday before the webinar. Historically, 80% of OLLI registrations come in during the first week of “open registration!” So, register early in order to avoid disappointment!
THREE TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
OLLI at DU has an extremely low cost in comparison to other lifelong learning opportunities in our area and in the country. As a majority of our members take 3 or more courses per term, the cost per class hour is LESS THAN $3! In addition, we are one of only a few OLLIs who offer an “inclusive membership” where for one fee, you can enroll in as many courses and webinars as you want during the term. We have listened to our members about expanding the types of membership, however, and are pleased to announce that this Fall we will be offering:

INTRODUCTORY MEMBERSHIP (for first time OLLI members only): The $50 fee allows you to register for one 8-week or less course. If you have not been with OLLI since before the pandemic, you are eligible to register for an introductory membership which allows you to take one course.

TERM MEMBERSHIP:  The fee is $140 per term for unlimited courses and webinars (in-person and online) during one term as long as space is available. Membership also includes discounts to local area restaurants, museums, and events.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP (only available in the fall)The fee is $400 per year for unlimited in-person and online courses during the fall, winter and spring terms so long as space is available. The annual membership also includes registration for the four Fall Recess webinars and ten Summer Shorts webinars (currently $10/webinar), access to our new OLLI library of webinar recordings, and discounts to local area restaurants, museums, and events.
