OLLI Insider: Your Questions Answered

Dear OLLI Insider,

I have a friend who lives about 45 minutes from Peoria.  Can she sign up for OLLI programs, or are they only for people in the Peoria area?

Signed,
Confused Commuter

Dear Confused Commuter,

OLLI programs are open to everyone, as long as they are 50 years old and have a love of learning!  We have had participants from St. Louis, Chicago, Galesburg, and even Tennessee.  At last count, as many as seven area counties are represented in our participant numbers.  We welcome your friend, and invite you to spread the word to everyone about how wonderful our OLLI really is.

Sincerely,
OLLI Insider

OLLI Insider   is a weekly article that addresses questions from our members.  If you have a question about OLLI you'd like featured in an upcoming edition, please email  continue@bradley.edu.

Pollinator Program Series ( 8-sessions)
Session 1.  Pollinators: What They Are -
Why They Matter
Tuesday, January 29
6:00 p.m.

Chillicothe Public Library is introducing an exciting new eight-session program series for 2019, "Pollinators: What's the Buzz?"

The library is partnering with community members, scientists, museums, and conservation groups to offer an in-depth exploration of topics related to pollinators and their interactions with human civilization. Attendees are also invited to become citizen scientists through hands-on activities such as raising butterflies at home and participating in a photography contest.

The first program will be on Tuesday, January 29 at 6:00 p.m.  Mike Contratto, a master naturalist and community member who helped coordinate the series, will discuss what pollinators are, their importance to human food production, other ways they improve our lives, and some ways we can protect endangered pollinator species.

Watch for future programs in this series on these dates:
Tuesday, February 26.  Gardening for Pollinators
Thursday, March 21.  What You Plant Matters
Thursday, April 4, The Rusty Patch Bumble Bee
Thursday, May 23.  Photographing Pollinators
