Read about two of our featured classes below:

Class #8: Poetic Forms
Tuesday/Thursday, 9:00 -11:30 a.m.
Many poets love playing with traditional (or new) poetic forms.  This class will look at sonnets, illanelles, sestinas, and visual poetry.  We'll define these forms and look at some ways poets have used them.  The class instructor is Jim Sullivan, professor of English, Illinois Central College.
Class #31: Medicare Made Clear
Wednesday/Friday, 12:30 - 3:00 p.m.
This class will provide an explanation of Medicare and its different parts A, B, C, and D.  Participants will receive a booklet for reference and leave feeling more comfortable with the decisions they can make about the benefits of Medicare.  The class instructor is Dan Smith, senior insurance specialist at Fortner Insurance.

You'll love the fun atmosphere and strong sense of camaraderie, not to mention the plentiful snacks and refreshments to fuel your quest for knowledge!

Scribe to Screen, Featuring Award-Winning Room

Now is your chance to delve deeper into one of last year's highly-awarded films, Room.  Join us as we read the novel on which it is based and discuss this heartrending drama.  To register, either call (309) 677-3900 or click here.

Scribe to Screen: Room
Thursday, January 18, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Thursdays, January 25 - February 8, 1:00 - 3:15 p.m.
Peoria Public Library, North Branch

Enjoy an incredible film from an astounding book, Room.  A child, Jack, is born and spends several years held captive with his mother in a hidden "room," while she plots their escape to a world Jack cannot imagine.  The love (and resilience) between mother and son endures through the nightmare of circumstances.  Based on Emma Donoghue's award-winning novel and nominated for four Academy Awards, the film enthralls as it questions what we really need to live, how strong we could be in unimaginable conditions, and where contentment lies when troubles simply change their appearance.
$45 - moderated by Randy Wilson, OLLI study group cinema coordinator, and Jane Hense, OLLI study group committee chair.
