Classes
Class Reminders for Tomorrow

Tomorrow will be the first day of Fall Classes!  As you prepare to come to campus, please review the following reminders.

Bus and Shuttle Service
Enjoy door-to-door service on class days by parking at either of the following locations:
Shea Stadium ( 1523 W Nebraska Ave, Peoria) 
Westminster Presbyterian Church ( 1420 W Moss Ave, Peoria)

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. on  class  days, Peoria Charter buses will transport you from Shea Stadium and OLLI Shuttles will transport you from Westminster Church to the Student Center at Bradley.  Parking attendants will be on-site to assist you.  

Throughout the day, the OLLI Shuttles will be available to transport you between the Michel Student Center and Westlake, should you have classes in both buildings. 

Check-In
When you arrive at the Michel Student Center, be sure to check-in at the registration desk on the second floor to pick up your name badge and a copy of the daily announcements.  

If you are hosting a class, your instructors' name badge and any handouts will be located at the building where the class takes place (host materials for Westlake classes will be at the desk in Westlake Hall).  

Morgan Hall and The Garrett Center
The following class will be held in Morgan Hall:
Bradford Model T Girls (class #27)
The following class will be held in the Garrett Center:
Trust Departments (class #28)

Morgan Hall is located across the street that runs behind Westlake Hall; the Garrett Center is located next to the parking deck on Duryea Ave.  The OLLI Shuttles will take you to and from Morgan Hall and the Garrett Center for these classes.  Please click here to view a campus map showing the location of all the buildings and parking lots used for classes.

Life Expo is the premier resource for all things important to seniors and baby boomers -- education, health & wellness, health screenings, assisted living, real estate, travel, financial planning, food, entertainment, fitness, and more.

Come by the OLLI booth (booth #18) and add your name to a drawing to win a free Class registration ($95 value)!

Pontiac
Join OLLI in Historic Pontiac

Historic Pontiac, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

OLLI will visit the Route 66 Association of Illinois Hall of Fame and Museum featuring The Route 66: Photo Journal exhibit and display of life in the 1940's.  Well also visit the Livingston County War Museum and then board a trolley for a guided tour of the Murals on Main Street.  After lunch at Edinger's Filling Station, the group will stop at the Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum and also have free time to visit the Historic Courthouse Square.

$79 includes museum admissions, tour, lunch, gratuities, snacks and charter coach transportation.

Spend the Day with OLLI on a Local Learning Trip

Local trips are a great way to get out for the day and learn more about our community!  Spaces are still available for the following trips this fall:

Joan's Trophy & Plaque Company
Thursday, Oct. 20
8:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Joan's Trophy & Plaque Co. originated in the Peoria residence of Don Whitesall in 1970. Now incorporated and employing more than 18 staff, Joan's has grown from a small trophy shop to a multi-faceted corporation retailing awards locally and worldwide. On this trip, we'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the work taking place in the downtown Peoria facility and learn how the company advertises and markets its products.

$25 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, and shuttle transportation


Studios on Sheridan with Jeremie Draper
Friday, Oct. 21
11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
The former Sunbeam Bakery at Sheridan and Main streets has been transformed into Studios on Sheridan, a 22,000 square-foot haven for local artists to create and display their works in private studios. On this trip, we'll be treated to a private glass blowing demonstration and talk with Jeremie Draper. Afterward we'll take time for a short tour of the facility, learn about the redevelopment process, and then have an opportunity to explore the other businesses located throughout the building.

$37 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, presentation fees, and shuttle transportation


Proctor Recreation Center
Monday, October 24
8:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Join OLLI for this tour of the historic John C. Proctor Recreation Center, a facility designated by its founder to provide "free baths for the worthy poor of the city." Built in 1913, and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the facility was acquired by the Peoria Park District in 1934. It hosts programs and services to the neighborhood including literacy and GED classes for adults, camps and after-school programs for youth, and is the home of the African American Hall of Fame Museum.

$25 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, and shuttle transportation


Pekin Hospital
Friday, Nov. 18
8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Since 1913, Pekin Hospital has been dedicated to improving the health of its community through its 107-bed medical center that provides advanced care and state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities. As part of Progressive Health Systems, Pekin Hospital works with highly credentialed nursing staff and healthcare professionals including more than 300 physicians working in over 40 medical specialties. On this tour, we'll learn how the hospital utilizes hospitalists to offer a new level of patient-centered care, and we'll hear about The Baby Place, which holds the international designation as a "baby-friendly birth facility."

Argo
See Argo on the Giant Screen

Tuesday, November 15
1:00 p.m.
Peoria Riverfront Museum Giant Screen Theatre

OLLI presents a special screening of Argo, a drama based on events that took place in 1979 when 52 Americans were taken hostage during the Iranian revolution. Winner of three Academy Awards, the film describes the story of six Americans who attempted to escape the hostage crisis under the guise of producing a Hollywood film. 

Following the movie, our moderator, Doug Frank, will discuss his former role as President of Music Operations for Warner Pictures. He will also discuss his supervision of the music for Argo and many other films, such as the Harry Potter series, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Dark Knight.

$5 - includes admission and discussion. Transportation not provided - meet us at the Peoria Riverfront Museum! Free parking available in the deck accessible from Water Street.

Robison Lecture

Robison Lecture featuring Jessica Yellin

Michel Student Center Ballrooms, Bradley University

As CNN's chief White House correspondent, award-winning political journalist Jessica Yellin has interviewed President Obama, Hillary Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Laura Bush.  Yellin provided extensive coverage from the battleground states during the 2008 and 2012 elections and has reported from around the globe, including Russia, China, Latin America, and Mongolia.  In Washington, Yellin has covered every significant policy debate of the last 10 years, including the push to reform the financial regulatory system.  In 2010, she won a Gracie Award for her reporting on the coverage of women in politics.  As a writer, her work has been published in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, and Details. 

This event is free and open to the public.  Parking is available on campus after 6:00 p.m.
Chris Foreman Jazz Trio featuring Andy Brown

Chris Foreman Jazz Trio featuring Andy Brown

Dingeldine Music Center, 1417 W Barker Ave, Peoria

Chris Foreman and Andy Brown are legendary Chicago jazz artists.  These recording artists tour around the world when they are not performing in Chicago's greatest jazz clubs.  Chris was recently featured on NPR's Fresh Air where his new CD with Andy Brown, Now is the Time (Sirens Records), received great acclaim.  Because of generous funding from Bradley University's Intellectual and Cultural Activities Committee, this one-time event is free to the public.
