Fall Registration Social Returns July 25 



Fall Registration Social
Wednesday, July 25 (New Date)
8:00 - 10:00 a.m. ( N ew Time)
Michel Student Center Ballrooms

The fall Registration Social has returned to its regularly scheduled date and time at the Michel Student Center.  Volunteers, like those shown above, will be on hand to guide you through the easy registration process.

Please note the schedule for Wednesday, July 25 :

8:00 a.m.  Ballroom doors on the second floor open for number distribution  

8:00 - 8:45 a.m.  Staff and volunteers check your registration forms and answer questions while you enjoy refreshments and socialize with friends both new and old.

8:45 - 10:00 a.m.  Numbers are called in order for same-day registration processing

Special note:  The Michel Student Center does not open until 7:30 a.m.

Free parking is available on campus during the Fall Registration Social, so shuttle service will not be offered.  For more information, contact Bonnie or Gwen at (309) 677-3900.

Jubilee College Historic Site

Enjoy this rare opportunity to tour the Jubilee College State Historic Site building and grounds, founded in 1838 by Bishop Philander Chase, the first Episcopal bishop of Illinois. During our visit, we'll learn more about the history and background of the college as we tour the building and the adjacent historic cemetery, Jubilee butterfly garden, and several restored prairies. 

$27 - includes lunch, gratuities, tour, and shuttle transportation

OLLI members are invited to meet their elected officials and discuss issues they care about at an upcoming legislative breakfast.

The OLLI/AARP Legislative Breakfast, featuring local legislators and politicians, will be moderated by Brad McMillan, J.D., Executive Director of the Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service at Bradley University.

Free parking will be available in the Main Street parking deck adjacent to the Renaissance Coliseum.  Doors open at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast.

Drummer from Mannheim Steamroller to Perform 

An Afternoon with Tom Sharpe

Tom Sharpe, drummer for Mannheim Steamroller, will be the featured performer at the next  Concert in the Stacks program at the Chillicothe Public Library.   Sharpe will present a unique and exciting solo symphony that blends classical and world music with a wide variety of instrumentation and percussive rhythms.  This concert is sure to be a sonic and visual feast for the senses!

North Branch Library to Host Free Concert

Adam Larson Trio

Peoria Public Library North Branch

Enjoy a free concert featuring Normal, Illinois, native Adam Larson. A saxophonist since the age of 11, Adam received his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz performance from The Manhattan School of Music where his master's degree was awarded with honors. Adam also maintains an active touring and recording schedule with his own groups and as a sideman with others. CDs will be available for purchase with a percentage of the proceeds going to the Friends of the Library.

The Physics of Science Fiction

Time travel is a thing of fiction... or is it? Wormholes, wrinkles, warps: could they exist beyond book pages and movie screens? 
 
Dr. Jose Lozano, chair of the Physics Department at Bradley University, will lead attendees on a journey through time travel in pop culture, exploring paradoxes, examining what time is and how it's measured, and venturing through space-time and the fourth dimension. Along the way, Dr. Lozano will introduce Einstein's ideas on special and general relativity and consider the feasibility of time travel.
