Trivia Night Quickly Approaching - Register Today!
4th Annual OLLI Trivia Night Fundraiser
Friday, August 24, 2018
5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Kickapoo Creek Winery
OLLI's Trivia Night Fundraiser is an annual event that combines fun, friends, and a friendly battle of the wits. We'd love to see you at this year's event on August 24 at Kickapoo Creek Winery!
This year's theme
is "The Sixties - 50 Years Later," so plan to wear something groovy. Or if you prefer, bring funky items to adorn your tables! Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed team and best decorated table. Prizes will also be awarded to the top-scoring team ... and the lowest-scoring team!
Our evening will feature eight rounds of questions in nine categories, plus you'll have the chance to purchase "brain power" from Bradley students who will assist your table with answers. As always, hosts Dan DiOrio and Greg Batton, from WMBD radio, will emcee the evening that will also feature plentiful hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a cash bar.
Register online, or call Gwen or Bonnie at (309) 677-3900. Individual registrations are $45 per seat, or purchase a table for your team of 8 for $360.
If you don't have a team, don't worry, we'll place you on one!

In total, our visit will offer experiences that allow us to witness and learn what's happening on this 25,000 acre working farm in northwest Indiana.

NASA, Bradley Pick Winners
of 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge
NASA and partner Bradley University have selected the five winning designs in the latest stage of the 3D-Printed Habitat Centennial Challenge Competition. Using specialized software, w
inning teams created digital representations of a deep space habitat consisting of mission recycled materials and local indigenous materials.
Eighteen teams, from all over the world, submitted projects that were reviewed by a panel of judges. The five winning teams will split a $100,000 cash award.
The NASA 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge, begun in 2014, is part of NASA's Centennial Challenges program celebrating the 100th anniversary of flight.
In the next phase of the competition, the winning teams will build a one-third scale printed habitat set to be completed by spring, 2019.
Read more about the top five teams and their designs.

Great American Read Programs Continue at PPL
Monsters vs. Villains
Thursday, August 23, 2018
6:00 - 7:45 p.m.
Peoria Public Library (PPL) North Branch
In literature, not all monsters are the bad guys. Using examples from books on The Great American Read list, Colleen Karn will illustrate how monsters aren't always the villains, and that often human beings are the villains. Our presenter, Colleen Karn, is an assistant professor of English and Humanities at Methodist College. Her scholarship focuses on the cultural use of monsters.
Programming for
The Great American Read
is offered as part of a grant from the American Library Association and PBS.
