You know him as the veteran news anchor, but in this study group, he will be your OLLI facilitator - Tom McIntyre.  After 48 years in the business, Tom knows how to shoot and edit images for broadcast television.  But don't let that expertise scare you.  Tom has the eye - and the techniques - to show how to create your own home videos easily.

So think about all those pictures and videos that are stored in your closet just waiting for you to turn them into a family memento.  Join Tom as he helps you learn video and still picture shooting and editing skills.

Meet Sharon Amdall,
OLLI Strategic Planning Chair

In October, 2014, OLLI embarked on its first strategic plan.  Within a year, it was clear that the plan would need a champion if we ever hoped to achieve and sustain member expectations.

That's when Sharon Amdall accepted the invitation to become OLLI's Chair of Strategic Planning.  "Working with OLLI has allowed me to see its outstanding 'operational excellence,' " says Amdall.  "[It] continuously exceeds my expectations!"

New for Winter: Classes at Other Campus Locations  PLUS Shuttle Service, Treats

Sometimes the student must go to the teacher, and that will be the case this winter if you enjoy learning how to make art or music.  During Winter 2019, OLLI will host four classes away from the Michel Student Center, so that the instructors can share their expertise - and their maker space - with you.  To make it even easier, we'll provide shuttle service to and from the Student Center PLUS we'll have treats at the other sites to make your participation as seamless as we can.

Check out these winter art and music classes that you can enjoy at other locations on Bradley's campus!

OLLI Insider: Your Questions Answered

Dear OLLI Insider,
Thanksgiving is Thursday, and then it's followed by Black Friday.  Why all the fuss about a meal and shopping?

Signed,
Sounds Overrated to Me

Dear Sounds Overrated to Me,
You ask an interesting question that we'd love to answer.

Thanksgiving is a day when we celebrate abundance.  So we are grateful for all the  OLLI members we enjoy and for everything you do to make Bradley's OLLI one of the best!

As for Black Friday, some believe it is the kickoff for the holiday shopping season, but it's more likely a joking reference about the bad traffic that's typically associated with holiday travel.  So we want to use the occasion to remind you to be careful.  Whether you're shopping or traveling, please be safe during this long weekend!

So while it may seem we're making a fuss over the Thanksgiving holiday, it's good nonetheless that  time has been designated for important ideas: gratitude and taking care of ourselves.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!  Don't forget, we'll be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23.

OLLI Insider   is a weekly article that addresses questions from our members.  If you have a question about OLLI you'd like featured in an upcoming edition, please email  [email protected] .

'Year of Beer' Wraps Up
With Local Twist

Locally Brewed Stories
Tuesday, November 27
6:00 p.m.
Chillicothe Public Library

Chillicothe Public Library's 'Year of Beer' program will wrap up with three final presentations in November, December, and January, starting off with a unique look at the brewing history of the Peoria area.

Everyone knows Peoria was the whiskey capital of the world, but at this presentation, you have the chance to learn about the area's lesser-known brewing history.  Local historians, storytellers, and beer enthusiasts will bring the past to life! Some "historic" beers will also be sampled, so this session is for ages 21 and up, and registration is requested.

The 'Year of Beer' series continues on December 10 with Beyond Hops: Beer with Alternative Bittering Agents; and on January 7 with a glimpse of how hops are grown and processed, a presentation by staff from Sharp Mountain hop yard in Maquon, Illinois.

For more information about this and other programs, please visit  chillipld.org,  or call (309) 274-2719.
