Thank You to Our Donors!

Nearly six years ago, we were asked by The Bernard Osher Foundation to create and sustain a robust fundraising plan to promote our program's sustainability.

Since then, OLLI members have donated a whopping $365,000, and our donor levels have reached an all-time high of 40% of our membership!

With these donations, we have purchased and maintained two shuttles, provided annual awards to Bradley students, funded stand-alone and co-sponsored lecture and cinema programming, purchased audio-visual items that benefit both our members and our university home, provided a savings account for future programming and shuttle replacements, and provided $100,000 to fund audio-visual upgrades to the Michel Student Center ballrooms.

Thank you so very much for this incredible support - it is a testament to your dedication to OLLI and our culture of giving.

Watch next week's newsletter to learn more about our goals for 2017-18!  In the meantime, to learn more about giving to OLLI, please visit Bradley.edu/olli/giving, or contact Michelle Riggio, Associate Director of Continuing Education, at mriggio@bradley.edu or (309) 677-3900.

Thank you again!

Important Note about Parking at Westminster Church

For those of you who utilize our door-to-door shuttle service for OLLI classes, please note that certain areas of the Westminster Church parking lot are reserved for church members.

The map below indicates which areas are available to OLLI members (labeled in yellow).  The lower lot on the east side (to your left as you enter from Moss Avenue) is the preferred area, with overflow areas up near the church building.  We greatly appreciate your cooperation!
Vietnam
Understanding PTSD for Vietnam Veterans

Over the past month, WTVP, our local PBS station, has been broadcasting episodes of a new Ken Burns documentary, The Vietnam War.  In October, OLLI will host the following study group focusing on post traumatic stress disorder experienced by Vietnam veterans.

Understanding Combat PTSD (Discussion-based)
Fridays, October 20 - November 10
9:30 - 11:45 a.m.
Peoria NEXT Innovation Center
A significant number of Vietnam veterans struggle with Combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  In this group, participants will learn the history of combat PTSD before and after Vietnam.  We'll discuss what the military is going to address this syndrome, along with what treatments have been found to be helpful for our veterans.  Guest speakers have been invited to attend, including a counselor from the Peoria Vet Center.  Participants must have internet access in order to view short films and complete readings.  War veterans are especially encouraged to register as both learners and the voices of the experience.
$45 - facilitated by Rebecca Carlson, Center for the Prevention of Abuse caseworker.

Register today by clicking here to utilize our online system or by calling (309) 677-3900.

For those who would like to watch full episodes of The Vietnam War documentary online or view the WTVP broadcasting schedule to watch live episodes on television, click here to visit the PBS website.
