Bradley Counseling Students Share Evening
with OLLI Members

Who better to offer suggestions about successful aging than OLLI members?

Thirty-six OLLI members recently participated in a graduate level counseling course at Bradley in which Marjorie Getz, adjunct instructor and frequent OLLI facilitator, invited OLLI members to talk with her students about aging.

"It was hard for me to interrupt the conversations to announce dinner," said Getz, as she watched the OLLI members and graduate students exchange insights about aging.
OLLI commends Marjorie for understanding the value of inter-generational education and dialogue, and we especially appreciate that she invited the "experts" to talk about enjoying life after 50!  We know that Bradley's future counselors learned more in one evening - through conversations with OLLI members - than most textbooks can ever convey!

Join OLLI on Trip to Streator for Mural Festival

Murals and Milestones: 2018 Streator Walldogs Mural Festival
Friday, June 29
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Level 3 Learning Trip

What happens when 200 highly skilled sign painters and mural artists from all over the country converge in one lucky town to paint 16 murals in five days?

It's a Walldog Festival, and that's what OLLI will celebrate when we visit Streator in June.  To add to the fun, the city will be observing its 150th Anniversary - and Illinois' 200th Anniversary - in one big celebration.

We'll also visit Weber House and Garden featuring Storybook style architecture, a blend of more defined styles, and the beautiful English country gardens consisting of ten individually-themed "rooms."

Make sure you join us - and our informative step-on guide -  for this triple anniversary in Streator!

Fee - $99 includes tour, presentations, lunch, gratuities, snacks, and charter coach transportation.

Register online, or call Gwen or Bonnie at (309) 677-3900.
Pardon Our 'Mess' at Continuing Education's Building!

Packed tubs
Those chips in the tile and stains on the carpet will not be missed when Continuing Education undergoes a much needed flooring face-lift starting May 30.  In the meantime, all the staff are packing their offices (Michelle's office is shown at right), so that the installers will have easy access to the floors.
Pardon our mess as we temporarily conduct business under some trying conditions that may include a disruption in our work.  The copy machine, the phones, the computers, and all of the staff will be impacted until the work is complete.
Please make a note on your calendar that a visit to Continuing Education will be a challenge for awhile (watch out for all the packing crates), and that the staff will be working remotely, or in the Continuing Education basement.  Thanks in advance for your patience and cooperation!

Hilltop Happenings
Construction Update:
Bradley's Business and Engineering Complex

Summer break is here, and the Business and Engineering Complex continues to move ahead.

The weather has been cooperative thus far, so the past 30 days have seen a lot of activity. The first floor elevated slab has been completed, underground utilities on the east side of the building have been completed and backfill around the building is finished.
It's exciting to see the building going vertical as the structural steel installation has commenced.

During the next 30 days you will see a lot more of the structural steel being installed as construction moves to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. The first area for the second floor elevated slab pour is now being formed on the west side of the building. Formwork for this area will be removed once the concrete is poured and will then be moved on to the next section to be poured. Masonry walls and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins will continue in the basement level.
