Final Reminders for Classes

OLLI Winter Classes begin today!  As you bundle up and travel to campus this morning, please keep in mind the following reminders:

Location
Most classes will be held in the Michel Student Center (915 N Elmwood Ave, Peoria).  When you arrive, please stop by the registration table on the first floor to pick up your name badge and schedule, daily announcements, and other helpful materials.

Percussion Class in Dingeldine Music Center
As a reminder for our members taking the Tuesday/Thursday 9:00 a.m. percussion class, the OLLI shuttles will transport you to and from Dingeldine Music Center each day.  Please wait for the shuttles at the main entrance of the Michel Student Center.

Parking
With the students away for winter break, parking on campus is open to the public.  Feel free to park in any blue- or white-lined space near the Student Center, or in the Duryea Parking Deck (at the corner of St. James and Bradley Avenues).  Please use caution when walking on campus to avoid any icy areas.   The OLLI shuttles will continually patrol the parking lots on campus to offer a ride to anyone walking to the Student Center from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.  If you need parking lot assistance at any time, please call the OLLI cell phone at (309) 258-4142.

Lunch
Today's complimentary buffet lunch will feature Teriyaki top sirloin steak, Caesar salad, steamed rice, roasted Italian vegetables, and soft dinner rolls.

For lunches during the remainder of the week, you are welcome to visit the food court's Chik-Fil-A or deli, walk to one of the  restaurants near campus, or bring a sack lunch.

Breaks
Each morning from  8:30 - 9:00 a.m., please start your day with our beverage service on the first floor of the Michel Student Center, just outside of the Marketplace food court.  Our breaks with refreshments and snacks (with healthy options) will take place at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the same location.  During the afternoon breaks, Catherine will lead a brief yoga session on the second floor, so come on up and stretch with her!

Show Your Spirit!
Each day during classes, we will feature a different way for you to show your OLLI and school spirit!
Tuesday, 1/9 - I Love OLLI Day
Why do you love OLLI?  Wear it on your sleeve and see what others love, too!  Pick up a sticker at the registration table.
Wednesday, 1/10 - I Volunteer Day
Do you volunteer for a worthy cause?  Help spread awareness by sharing your passion with pride.  Pick up a sticker at the registration table.
Thursday, 1/11 - Alma Mater Day
Wear your school colors, from high school or beyond.  Maybe you'll spot a classmate!
Friday, 1/12 - Rise of the Red Day
Wear Bradley RED, and lots of it!  We will be showing our pride in being a part of the Bradley family!

Inclement Weather
As long as Bradley University is open, OLLI classes will be held as planned.  In the event that Bradley is closed, it will be listed among local school closings.

Spain
Registration for Portugal and Spain Trip Now Open

In September 2018, OLLI will travel with Road Scholar to Portugal and Spain, where we will spend two weeks experiencing Portuguese and Spanish culture, food, and history with expert, local guides.

The trip will take place from September 8 - 22, 2018.  For additional trip details, including costs and a tentative itinerary, click on the link below.  The PowerPoint presentation given at the trip informational meeting yesterday, January 8, is also linked below.

Due to high demand on our Road Scholar trips, we will use a lottery-style registration process.  Registrations will be accepted by phone, mail, and walk-in through Tuesday, January 30.  If we receive more registrations than we have available tickets, we will use a random lottery to select trip participants.   Couples/roommates/friends can bundle their registrations to be selected together.

We will contact selected participants by Thursday, February 1, at which time we will require a $250 non-refundable deposit on each ticket (to be paid within 1 week to keep the spot).

Below are links to two documents required for lottery registration: the registration form itself and the activity level waiver.  Please fill out and return both forms to the Continuing Education office, located in the brick building on the corner of Main and University streets (mail: Continuing Education, 1501 W Bradley Ave, Peoria, IL 61625).

If you have any questions or concerns, please call (309) 677-3900 or reply to this message.
