Hello!
OLLI at DU members love to travel; whether it's armchair travel participating in one of our very popular travel courses or with us on a domestic or international adventure. Last year, a group of 30+ members enjoyed a week of theatre in New York City in November and 25 members immersed themselves in the culture and traditions of Japan in March.
Based on member surveys, seeking input from other OLLIs nationwide, and working with four different travel companies (Road Scholar, Collette Tours, EF Go Ahead Tours, and Friendly Planet), we are pleased to offer you these travel opportunities. Why travel with OLLI? Our members like the comfort of traveling with friends they have made through our OLLI program, knowing that they can meet again after the travel adventure. Last month, the group who went to Japan had lunch at a ramen restaurant and next week will be enjoying a traditional tea ceremony in Boulder. Members also enjoy the courses OLLI offers courses aligned to our travel destinations -a group who took Jerry Mercure's Japanese Prints course went to the featured artist's workshop in Tokyo and purchased some beautiful woodblock prints.
OLLI works with the travel companies to customize the experiences for our members. I was happy to work on the Ireland trip as my husband and I have been fortunate to spend many trips throughout that beautiful emerald isle.
Christine Liptak (christine.liptak@du.edu), OLLI staff member has been working diligently with the various travel companies over the past six months and can assist you with questions. If you are interested in traveling, please be sure to sign up for the information overview sessions.
Cuba, Ireland, New York City, Washington, DC, Tuscany - which will you choose? I hope to join you on one of these trips next year!
