OLLI Instructor Spotlight
Featuring: Ellen Sander
Ellen Sander (pictured left) has a BA and MA in French, a BA in Government, and an MA in International Affairs. She has taught for the UC Davis French Department and has been an OLLI instructor for six years. Read Ellen's full instructor biography below:

A Northern California native, Ellen spent her early childhood exploring the wonders of the outdoors as well as those of her family’s bookshelves. Writings in economics and fine arts, shelved in the family library, were intriguing to her curiosity even before entering the first grade. Influenced both by her parent’s vocations as well as countless hours outdoors Ellen developed a rare interest in the relationship between culture, languages, and politics. Travel throughout the western U.S and abroad introduced Ellen to the differing methods of cultural expression and life style. After studying Government with minors in Geology, Anthropology, and Astronomy, Ellen’s post-graduate studies offered tremendous insight into the economic development of rural workers, Francophone politics and cultural identity. Along the way, her father’s interest in documentary photography provided yet another medium with which to explore and document geographic regions and populations.

Ellen brings to OLLI both academic and experienced perspectives of the French speaking world as well as Brazil. Utilizing photography narrated by the voices of cinematographers, writers, folklorists, and artists she provides her classes with an insightful and enriching learning experience. In Ellen’s words, life is not solely academic. Her exploration of national parks and alpine lakes encourages a keen appreciation for the greater world. Time is allowed for reflection as well such pastimes as gardening, swimming, tennis, skiing, and winter sports that reenergize the soul.

Lincoln Public Library Open House
Successfully Happened on October 1st!
OLLI was featured at the October 1st Open House at our partner location, the Twelve Bridges Lincoln Public Library. Over 275 patrons attended the event and Advisory Council members, Joan Griffin, Gretchen Cypin, Lynne Snyder, and Linda Derosier were there handing out OLLI catalogues and answering questions.

The OLLI Program would not continue to thrive as it has without the ongoing help and support of our Advisory Councils Members. Thank you, ladies for your generosity, time, and commitment to our Program! Your dedication does not go unnoticed!
