OLLI Instructor and Advisory Council Member,
Linda Derosier, Receives Community Volunteer Award
Friends of the Lincoln Library’s (FOLL's) Outreach Director Linda Derosier's adventures as a corporate wife involved picking up stakes every few years and starting over in a new environment. One constant, she says, is that getting a library card was always on her "first day to-do list." And after the library card, joining the Friends and a book club came next. Linda honed her marketing and advertising skills over a number of years. Of all her local outreach efforts on behalf of libraries, the successful campaign to defeat a referendum to close the Stevens County Library in her Washington community is still close to her heart.

Linda and Mike moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills in 2005, and she immediately threw herself into volunteer activities with FOLL. In 2007, she accepted a job as Library staff, but still kept her membership with FOLL. Key to the roll-out of Mother Goose on the Loose, Linda worked to make the library a welcoming and safe place for all.
Upon retirement, Linda joined the FOLL Board as Grants Director. Moving to Community Outreach Director in 2022, she hopes to attract new volunteers that can share the story of what our library has to offer, until every single resident has a library card.

Linda has recently been honored by the Kiwanis Foothills Club of Lincoln with their annual Community Volunteer Award, so we are not the only ones to recognize Linda's value to the community.
