Fall Classes Begin Next Monday, September 11th
OLLI Fall 2023 courses begin next week on Monday, September 11th with new classes starting throughout the semester, ending December 10th. We have something for everyone!

If you haven't renewed your OLLI Membership, please do so before registering for Fall classes. OLLI Membership 2023-2024 is valid through July 31, 2024 and it covers our Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024 Terms. Current OLLI Membership must be purchased before registering for Fall 2023 course offerings or you must have a Membership in your shopping cart before you can see the Add to Cart button on our website.

Description: The History of the Witch explains how the Catholic Inquisition, more specifically Bishop Kramer, invented the word "witch" and used it to persecute female healers - midwives, herbalists, etc.
Parking Permits

Parking permits are required on the main Sierra College campuses (Rocklin and Nevada County). A complimentary parking permit will be mailed to registered members and instructors of in-person classes happening at either campus.

  • If you have not received your mailed parking permit prior to class, you can visit the Admissions and Records office at the Nevada County Campus to claim one before your class or purchase a daily parking permit from the dispensers in the parking lots for $3 per day.
  • If you do not display a parking permit you will receive a parking ticket.
  • Do not park in Staff or ADA parking unless you have a valid permit.
  • Roseville Center has free street and garage parking (so classes here do not require a parking permit).

September 15 – PG&E: Wildfire Safety and Clean Energy Brandon Sanders is with the Sierra Division Government Affairs at PG&E. His presentation will cover topics of interest to Nevada and Placer County customers including their efforts around wildfire safety, clean energy, customer programs and community partnerships. October 13 – "A Force of Nature" - The John Muir TrailJoan discusses her new memoir, "Force of Nature: Three Women Tackle the John Muir Trail", and the adventure it describes. Joan is joined by her two backpacking companions, OLLI members, Jane Riedel and Caroline Hickson. "Force of Nature" is equal parts gripping adventure tale, personal memoir, and vivid nature writing.

December 8 – The State of the Death Penalty in the U.S. Political Science Professor Austin Sarat and moderated by OLLI Instructor Terry McAteer who studied under Sarat. Professor Sarat is the author of "Lethal Injection and the False Promise of Humane Execution." This discussion will be scintillating and informative.
