Meet Your Lecturer

Susan Steinmann taught many years in New York City elementary schools and learned more than she taught. She has been an activist for justice all her life ever since she was the victim of a violent anti-Semitic incident in the 4th grade. It made Steinmann empathize with all marginalized people. She never wanted to do to anyone else what was done to her. She has lived in the wilderness of Northern Maine on the New Brunswick border, in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the farm country of northern Bucks County in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. She has enjoyed every experience, including reading poetry that spoke about people's lives and struggles.
