OLLI at UVa Insider
19 years of university-level short courses for active adults — always growing, always learning!
Join us online for one of our new upcoming discussion groups or for the one session Grill Like a Greek this Thursday. The member Coffee Chat also continues every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. We would love to see you!
This social group is, loosely, like a book club. We will read, or watch (TV or movie), something on a particular theme, then meet to discuss. The first week will cover a timely topic: please read or watch anything about a *fictional* pandemic, and we will discuss what they got right/wrong compared to our real, quarantined lives. At the end of each discussion, we'll pick a topic for the following week. Led by Marion Votaw.

The group will meet on Zoom from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays starting tomorrow, June 3 and continuing through June 24.

**Registration is limited to 12 current Spring members. If there is demand for this discussion group, it may be repeated so that other members have the opportunity to participate.
Popular  Eat Like a Greek instructor, Claudia Hanna, is embracing not only online teaching, but also the summer grilling season. Join her on Zoom for Grill Like a Greek this Thursday, June 4, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for a demo of marinating and grilling Greek style. She will work with lamb and chicken and do a couple side dishes. Come get some culinary inspiration!
An open discussion of religious and spiritual concerns, seeking to be open to all perspectives. The main "ground rule" is to treat one another with respect, being humble enough to realize that no one of us has all the answers to the mysteries of the universe. An opening question for discussion: Is it reasonable to believe in a compassionate God in the midst of a pandemic?

The group will meet on Zoom from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays starting June 16 and continuing through July 14.

**Registration is limited to 12 current Spring members.
Member Weekly Coffee Chat, Tuesdays at 10:30
Join us on Zoom every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. to socialize with other members and get comfortable on the platform. We will be using the breakout room feature in Zoom so members can meet in groups of four to talk about a suggested topic or just chat and enjoy each other's company.

If you're not too keen on talking to people on a screen, you're not alone. We promise we make it fun and it's not as impersonal as you may think. This AARP article, Many Tech-Shy People Changing to Connect, offers several firsthand accounts of embracing video chat.

Every Tuesday at 10:30. Register here online to receive the Zoom link the morning of the chat. It really is as easy as clicking on the link in the email! NOTE: Registration limited to current Spring 2020 members.
