Updates from the Administration:
The Messages to the Mount will be back to Wednesdays starting next week.

Over the coming weeks we will be meeting frequently with our PTO Board, School Council and Staff to reflect on our reopening of the school. We anticipate improvements as we journey through each week. As a parent, you are always welcome to contact the school directly or speak with a School Council representative.

Here are a few thoughts as we finish up our first few days of school.

A few things that are going really well these first days of school:
  • Students being kind and studious (lots of learning taking place)
  • Students and Staff wearing masks and respecting each others space
  • Cleaning of the school throughout the day
  • Outside classes and lunch periods
  • Parent Lunch Helpers!
  • Classes following our hallway and sanitizing guidelines
  • The care our teachers are showing the students
  • The response from the Hamilton Co. Health Depart. concerning health questions has been excellent

A fews things to note that will continue to improve:
  • Carpool- long lines and delays (although we are improving). Remember that all cars should pull forward before stopping to let your children out. The students can then walk to the correct door to enter the school.
  • Student and Staff stamina (5 months without in-person school and all new procedures is tiring!)
  • Students and Staff being comfortable with wearing a mask for a long period of time.
  • Building our work and home routines!

Buffs/Gaiters:
We did receive some guidance from the Health Department around buffs/gaiters. Multi-layered buff/gaiters are acceptable for school use. There are several products available that even come with replaceable filters. Gaiters or buffs that are single layered, thin, and "see through" are not effective and should not be used. If you have a question about a gaiter or buff, you are welcome to bring it by the office for clarification.

We appreciate how patient and understanding everyone has been as we learn new procedures and processed together!

Recess Helpers Needed: Wed, Thurs & Fri
Recess is a very important part of the day at an elementary school. We desperately need 1 additional parent (in addition to the classroom teachers that are assigned recess duty) on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday! The children do go outside every day unless it is raining or temps are below 15 degrees so it is not recommended that younger siblings tag along. The hours are from 11:00am to 12:25pm each day paid at $15.00 per day.

SCRIP NEWS:
  • Thank you for a FANTASTIC 2019-2020 Scrip year!! We came in just over the previous year's revenue, which is phenomenal, considering that we were in quarantine for the 4th quarter of school. Thanks to everyone who participated and embraced ScripNow (e-cards)! These funds help the PTO make school enhancements possible!
  • As it is every year, the expectation is that each family will contribute $100 to the PTO for school enhancements. This can be done via Scrip rebates or by donating via check. Please make checks out to OLMC PTO and note "Scrip donation" in the memo line.
  • Scrip FINALLY has an app!! You can download RaiseRight (the Scrip app) from your app store. Please contact Stephanie Lesher (stephrufe@yahoo.com, 317-446-1977) for the OLMC enrollment code.
  • Orders for physical Scrip cards will continue to be filled on Wednesday mornings, but will be available for office pick-up only for the foreseeable future. We will not be doing classroom deliveries due to COVID restrictions. The general rule of thumb is orders placed by Friday, will be available for office pick-up Wednesday afternoon. The Scrip team strongly encourages you to place your orders online at shopwithscrip.com, as our access to our mailbox in the office is very limited.
  • The Scrip team will not be selling Scrip cards during carpool this year. All Scrip card purchases must be via order/delivery. This will require a little pre-planning, especially around the holidays. Please keep this in mind when thinking about your holiday gift list
  • 7th grade families will not be using scrip funds as a fundraiser for the 8th grade Washington DC trip (other opportunities will be available as an 8th grader).
Spirit Wear is now on sale through August 16!
Get your official Raider Gear and show your school pride.
School lunch:
  • We will not have a hot lunch program (Campus Cuisine) for 1st and 2nd quarter.
  • Students will need to bring their own lunch and beverage to school each day. No beverages will be available for purchase.
  • Napkins/utensils are not provided. Please pack everything your child needs to eat their lunch.
  • Students will physically spread out more while they are eating lunch.
  • Students will have assigned seats in the cafeteria.
