A Christ-centered community,
provides excellence in education
to meet the needs of the whole child.
February 17, 2021
Dear Parents,

What a week we have had!  The Lord has provided us with a glorious panorama of snow over President’s Day Weekend.  I hope your two e-Learning Days went well.  If you ever run into problems with managing your child’s e-Learning Day, please reach out to the teachers for assistance.  As always, parents, teachers and administrators form a dynamic partnership in the education and formation of your children.  The school is more than happy to work together with families to make e-Learning Days work for everyone.

I am so grateful that the students were able to attend Ash Wednesday Mass today virtually in their classrooms.  The entire OLMC School community was able to receive ashes in a Covid-safe way (ashes were applied via Q-tips) and also receive Holy Communion in their classrooms.  Just a few days ago, we were not sure how we would be able to distribute ashes to all of the children in a safe way, but the Lord worked out all of the details just in time as He always does.  Even though Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation, it remains to be part of the rich treasury of the Church and a practice that is inscribed in the memories of our children.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that the OLMC Administration will be hosting a virtual parent meeting on Thursday, February 25.  This presentation has been created to be somewhat of a “State of the School” address in which Mr. Fletcher and I will discuss the school’s past, present, and future.  We have always been entirely blessed as a school community even during these pandemic times, and we look to the future with hope that Our Lady of Mount Carmel will continue to intercede for us and obtain many blessings from Our Lord.  The link to register for this presentation is located further down in the Messages.

As we enter into the season of Lent, may our extra prayer, fasting, and almsgiving free us from anything that impedes us from entering into a joyful, dynamic relationship with Christ.  God bless you!

In the love of our Savior,
Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.

CYO Thank A Coach Program:
Do you have a coach who made a positive impact on your life?
It is said that athletics are a microcosm of life. Each day there are powerful lessons to be learned that will serve young people well for the rest of their lives. The role that coaches play in this process is immeasurable. Especially in a Catholic setting, where faith formation is at the core, the platform that coaches have to change lives for the better is immense.

CYO is introducing our “Thank A Coach” program to provide an opportunity for all of us who have had our lives changed by outstanding coaches to thank them for the amazing work they have done and how they have impacted our lives! To learn more about this opportunity to express words of thanks to your favorite coaches, click the link below.
