A Christ-centered community,
provides excellence in education
to meet the needs of the whole child.
January 20, 2021
Dear OLMC Parents,

Good afternoon!  Believe it or not, this week marks the first full week in the 3rd quarter.  Report cards will be sent home with children at the end of the day today. Teachers and students alike have been working diligently throughout this year, and it is a miracle that our children’s learning has been able to thrive since our doors opened in August.  We have been so blessed!

OLMC School’s next big event will take place during Catholic Schools Week from February 1-5.  Each year, Catholic schools across the country join together to celebrate the gift we have in attending a Catholic school.  We are incredibly fortunate to have an educational institution in which our common faith in Christ is the driving force of our school mission.  The Catholic school is not just considered to be a place where students can learn reading, writing, and arithmetic so they can secure a lucrative job in the future.  Our focus and goals for learning are much higher and carry an elevated dignity.  In truth, Catholic schools have a family-centered atmosphere where the whole person is nurtured and built up in love and virtue.

Each day of Catholic Schools Week will focus on an individual theme and will provide an opportunity for students to enjoy a dress down day.  The school’s Catholic Identity Committee and PTO have arranged for students, teachers, and parents to win creative prizes throughout the week.  The completed schedule for this festive week will be sent out in next week’s Messages from the Mount.  One of the most significant items for parents to note is the addition of a planned 2-hour late start on Friday, February 5.  Friday is designated as Teacher Appreciation Day, and this late start will allow for teachers to catch up on additional work they have assumed with having students learning in quarantine.  I look forward to celebrating this grace-filled week with you and your families soon!

In Christ, our hope,
Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.

Last weekend, Guerin Catholic proudly presented its winter play, Charlotte's Web, adapted by Joseph Robinette and based on the book by E.B. White. The heart-warming story of a special friendship between a lovable pig, Wilbur, and everyone's favorite spider, Charlotte, was shared on stage but due to Covid restrictions, there was a limited live audience. We would love to share the recording for classroom and family viewing! Use the following link to view a recorded performance:
