OLMC Time Capsule!
Due tomorrow
OLMC is creating a time capsule to remember this year. A time capsule is a historic cache of goods or information, usually intended as a deliberate method of communication with future people, and to help future archaeologists, anthropologists, or historians.

"Please and Thank you" for taking a quick moment of your time to share your insights and thoughts about this school year. We are gathering information about ourselves and our world via survey questions, in addition to ideas and thoughts people have about everything that has happened this year. This input will be used to create a "snap-shot" in time for the 2021 OLMC Time Capsule which will be closed until the year 2046.  God Bless you!

COVID-19 Updates:
We have had 0 cases of Covid in the school community this week.

You are always welcome to check our school numbers on the Indiana Covid-19 Dashboard and Map. Click on the school tab. OLMC School updates our numbers each week.

8th Grade - Last Carpool!
Wednesday, May 26 will be the 8th graders last day in carpool!
From years past, we know that the 8th grade parents like to celebrate with their 8th graders on the last day of school and you certainly should! However, I would ask that you honor the following directives to make carpool a safe and enjoyable place for your celebration and for all of the students.
  • You are welcome to come with signs, noise-makers, and music, if you like. Please do not come with silly string and candy to throw. A few kind teachers and I would be left to pick up the mess.
  • I would ask that the school uniform not be displayed in any disrespectful way, being mindful of the negative message it can send to other parents and students. You are welcome to donate their unwanted uniforms
  • We will be dedicating the far right lane of carpool for 8th grade families. We welcome you to congregate on the grass by the playground or at your cars, rather than by the school building, and we will instruct the 8th graders to meet you there for a short celebration.
  • We will dismiss them from school at 2:55pm so they can enjoy these final few moments at OLMC. I thank you in advance for beginning to move to your cars by 3:05pm.
  • The rest of the students will be dismissed at the regular time and carpool will run on the regular schedule.

Please know that you and your 8th graders will be in our prayers over these next few joyful and celebratory days.

Getting to Know Our New Teachers:
Typically, our school newspaper elective crew, The Raider Reporter, would have interviewed our new staff during 1st quarter. Since we have not been able to return to having this elective, a few students have volunteered to do mini-interviews for us.

Getting to Know Mrs. Stephanie Schroeder:
Mrs. Schroeder is a new kindergarten teacher this year. She is from Warsaw, Indiana and this is her first year at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She loves the community and loves that everyone is so thoughtful and supportive. She also says that she loves spending time with her students. You may ask how she got started teaching. She informs me that when she was in 5th grade, her teacher had fun games for learning and she wanted to teach kids like that. Her favorite subject to teach is reading. This is her third year teaching. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Schroeder!

This day-long camp will include opportunities for students to sing in a choir, learn to play the ukulele, be artistic with hands-on activities, and get dramatic on stage! This is a great way to build confidence, work as a team, and learn new skills of the performing arts. Campers will be exposed to something that is foundational at Guerin Catholic-that the arts lead us closer to God. It helps to plant the seed that performing is not just about entertaining, but that it's a ministry.

Guerin Catholic's Camp Purple offers a variety of athletic and enrichment camps for students in grades K-8. Camp descriptions, fees and registration are available at GuerinCatholic.org. All camps include a 2021 Camp Purple t-shirt if registered by May 30, 2021!
