A-OK Mentoring: Volunteers Needed!
A-OK volunteers serve as mentors and tutors
for preschool and elementary school children and middle school youth
in Howard County schools and in community programs. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and be able to work during weekday daytime hours.

Oakland Mills Road Complete Streets Study Open House
October 30th, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Christ Episcopal Church
6800 Oakland Mills Rd, Columbia
Hosted by the HC Office of Transportation. A 15-minute presentation summarizing the process and concepts will be given at both 6:30 and 7:30 p.m, but interested community members are encouraged to drop in any time.
For those who cannot attend the meeting, exhibits will be posted at the Office of Transportation's website the day after the meeting, and an opportunity to comment will be open until November 13th. Howard County anticipates a final report on the study by late fall.

Bow Only - 11/7/2019, 12/5/2019, & 1/14/2020
The Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks has announced its fall/winter schedule for managing the deer population through bow and shotgun managed hunts. Each park will be closed on its scheduled days for all other uses from dawn until noon during the managed hunt operations. The managed hunt program gives specially-screened, approved hunters daytime access to various parks with a combination of archery equipment or shotguns. For more information, click HERE.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a charity that builds beds for kids who don't have their own. If your child or a child you know is sleeping on the floor, a sofa, an air mattress, or with other siblings or parents, you can request a bed by visiting www.shpbeds.org/request-bed or emailing [email protected]. SHP delivers the bunks/single beds along with new mattresses, pillows, sheets, and comforters.
