* Exciting News from the Oakland Mills Little Free Library: 
Thanks to former Board member, Kay Wisniewski we have received a box of brand new award winning children's books donated by the Book Critic for the Washington Post.
 
This was a wonderful gift and greatly appreciated!
 
Many thanks to OMCA's office assistant Amy Carpenter who is our in-house librarian and makes sure our library is stocked with great books!

Stop by our Little Free Library and browse through our selection of books. If you see one you like, please take it and enjoy! The Little Free Library was established to foster the love of reading.

A-OK Mentoring: Volunteers Needed!
A-OK volunteers serve as mentors and tutors  for preschool and elementary school children and middle school youth  in Howard County schools and in community programs. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and be able to work during weekday daytime hours.

County Bicycle Wayfinding Survey
Howard County is conducting a county-wide bicycle network study to improve bicycle way-finding signage. Ultimately the goal of this project is to help people to better understand and use Howard County's bicycle network and make it easier to connect with destinations. More info and survey HERE.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Beds for Children in Need
Collection Bin located in the lobby of The Other Barn. Needed: new twin-sized bedding sets, sheet sets, and comforters.
 
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a charity that builds beds for kids who don't have their own. If your child or a child you know is sleeping on the floor, a sofa, an air mattress, or with other siblings or parents, you can request a bed by visiting www.shpbeds.org/request-bed or emailing [email protected]. SHP delivers the bunks/single beds along with new mattresses, pillows, sheets, and comforters.

Board Meeting Cancellation: The Tues. October 8 OMCA Board meeting has been cancelled due to a religious holiday.  The Board has rescheduled the Oct. 8 meeting for Tues. Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.  However, there is a possibility that the October 15 meeting could be cancelled.  If we cancel October 15 will will inform the community.

OMCA Board Accepting Donation Requests
The Oakland Mills Board is accepting  donation requests from non-profit 501(C)3 organizations.  The board annually sets aside funds in the budget for donations to non-profit organizations. Those seeking a donation should submit the donation request and required information no later than October 15, 2019. The Board will review requests at an early November, 2019 Oakland Mills Board meeting. If you have any questions please email Sandy Cederbaum, Village Manager at [email protected]
