3-Week Community Comment Period Begins
|
|
Proposed 7-11/Gas Station/Car Wash Design
for 5901 Stevens Forest Road
During the April 27, 2021 open meeting of the Oakland Mills Board of Directors, a group representing a potential purchaser for the vacant lot at 5901 Stevens Forest Road (a former gas station lot) presented plans for development of this property by building a 7-11 convenience store, gas station, and car wash on the lot. A link to site plan with the proposed architectural drawings is HERE.
This presentation was not an official exterior alteration application for approval of these plans. Rather, it constitutes only the first step in the Oakland Mills Non-Residential Architecture Review Process.
As the second step of the review process, the Oakland Mills Board of Directors is now opening a three-week comment period for members of the community to review and respond to the architectural plans presented. Any comments regarding the plans and/or the exterior architectural aspects of the proposed structures should be submitted to the Oakland Mills Board by email to [email protected] or by postal mail to the Oakland Mills Community Association, 5851 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia, MD 21045. The three-week comment period will be open until Monday, May 26, 2021.
For details on the Oakland Mills Non-Residential Architecture Process click HERE.

Letter of Compliance Timeframe
|
|
House buying and selling season is upon us! If you are planning to sell your home, please review the following information:
- We suggest that all property owners in OM request a Letter of Compliance prior to placing your house on the market. This will give you time to proactively address any potential non-compliant items.
- It takes us approximately THREE WEEKS to issue a Letter of Compliance. To ensure your closing is not delayed, don’t wait until your buyer asks for it!
- Letters are issued as a PDF via email.
- At this time, due to staffing constraints we are unable to complete follow-up inspections on properties found to be non-compliant; however, we will continue to work with you through the entire process.
- To better understand what is expected for a property to be compliant, please contact [email protected] for a copy of our Compliance Checklist
- To request a resale packet, please contact Sandy Cederbaum at [email protected].
For all of the information regarding buying/selling in Oakland Mills please visit our website.

CA now offers a discounted survey for community members who own property adjacent to CA Open Space.
